I have not received my new copy of AT2 yet (woot, its in the mail!!), and I don't know if it covers any kind of spacial anomolies. However I just watched Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan (Best movie with the original crew imho), and the combat sequence in the nebula made me think of things like that happening in BT. I'd like to play a game like that myself. And create a special warship that has extra and more powerful sensors designed to operate within the nebula.

I'm pretty sure Btech style ships have absolutely NO business in a nebula...
Theres no rules on any special phenomena in it. (I have it).

All space combat in Battletech takes place within the confines of a star system - almost always an inhabited one. Since a nebula is an interstellar phenomenon, no Battletech WarShip would ever encounter such a thing. So there probably aren't rules for it.
Edit:
BTW, I agree with you about the Wrath of Khan. It's the best of the original movies, although the Undiscovered Country (VI) is also very good.

Perhaps not a nebula, but there are other types of spacial anomalies, and some could occur within the confines of a solar system. Also I was thinking along the lines of explorer corps too. Or just jumping to a star that has no planetary bodies, but has some kind of anomaly.

Since Nebuli radiate heat and other forms of energy it is possable that they might be usefull as recharge points, in which case it would be quite possable that they might be used as intermediate jump points. The lack of a gravity source would make them quite safe for that purpose possably safer than a star system. That being the case they could have a military value for that reason. In addition since they are huge gas clouds, the main gas being hydrogen in addition tobeing usefull for recharge energy they coul also be used to refuel ships. it might even be possable for a space station could be present to serve as a base for small craft equipped with gas collectors. expecialy useful for areas where star systems are far apart.

A nebula is generally in the process of becoming a star system, so there might be a new star burning in the center of your nebula that you can charge the jump engines off of.

First off, thanks Mowtown.
Second, now I'm gonna have to design some support ships (DropShips and Small Craft) to fill the fuel gatherer role
Third, this means that combat could concievably happen in spacial anomalies, meaning I should probably take a crack at writing up rules (All those nice benefits for recharging and refueling would make for combat hinderances).

What about forbidding high energy weapons (lasers and PPC´s) because their tendency to ignite the nebulas H2 ?!?!

That would suck. Y'know, jumping into a vacant sector of space, expecting a nice, jumpsail-friendly nebula, only to find that it's been blown up by some jerk who fired his laser cannons.

| That would not be a danger, To ignite you need to have oxigen Nebulii generaly do not have that so ignition would not be a danger.

It would if you just cracked open an enemy vessel. Those tend to have plenty of oxygen (what with the crew's attachment to breathing and all).

You're all nuts I think combat in a nebula would be a heck of a lot of fun.Although dangerous, because yeah... you crack open the other guy's BShip and all that O2 mixes in, then you fire ANY weapon (since ya gotta figure AC's and Missiles make firing flames, and Missiles burn propellant all the way to their target...), Though I would think lasers and PPCs would have the least chance of ignighting it since thay aren't actually flame causing themselves... however they cause a lot of heat and heat hot enough can cause ignition too.

But to forbid all weapons fire will drop the fun to zero!
Ah! Maybe GR´s!!

GR's would be the weapon of choice if I was in command, but chances are I'd risk firing ACs and Missiles right up to the first hull breach of any ship. Then I'd have all my ships burn outta the nebula at max Gees and fire missiles in behind us Kaboom!!
