Linux Kernel 2.4.31
phpMyAdmin 2.6.4 pl3
phpBB2 2.0.17
MySQL 4.0.26 (Client and Server)

Ok, first off, this is on a system where I pay for a shell acct. and they installed the MySQL into my acct. There is also a system wide mysql, so I edited my bash_profile to prepend the general system path with the path to my MySQL bin dir.

However, it seems that the two sets of php scripts both ignore my bash_profile (and theoreticly rightly so), so I need to know how to tell them to look for the private mysql binary instead of the systemwide one. I've looked through the documentation AND config files for both and found diddly to help with this.

Any help appreciated.

Honestly, I don't know. Everything has always just "worked" for me. Send an email to the people hosting for you. I usually look a little first, then email if it isn't easily found, then look some more while I'm waiting for a response.

Thats what I did, then posted here
I'm still waiting on a reply. Usually takes them 2-3 business days (mon-fri) to reply. But thats ok, I don't need functionality for a couple weeks though.

Well, apparently something was wrong at the datacenter where I'm hosted at, because the site admin answered my email today.. which is a sunday..

Anyways, I had to change the localhost for the server to 127.0.0.1:9991, in other words the ip for localhost and the port that my private mysql server ran on. Also had to change connect type from socket to tcp. So, now you'll know Mordel, in case this ever happens to you

If it ever happens to me, I'm sure I'll have long since forgotten about this thread.
