But I murdered my computer. Some how the VX II virus snuck past my anti-virus program and ate my computer. So now I get on line either by using a friends compute. ( like I am now) or going to the Detroit public library where I can use one for one hour a day. I do have two ancient machines that I can use for writing stories but I have to save them to a floppy disc and transport the disc to an Internet capable machine to to get them on line. I have a Packard Bell 100 LC with a Pentium 386 and Windows 3.11 and a Macintosh 635 CD The Packard Bell is totally incapable of handling any AOL versions. If I can find a modem for it The Mac can use AOL 6.0 and access E-Mail text documents only no forums or web sites.

Are you open to options Mo?
FIrstly how dead is your computer? If its just the software side, you can consider borrowing a copy of linux and installing it. Won't cost you much. Might take getting used to though.. of course if the hardware's fried as well that isn't an option..
Another option is running said linux on your old mac... but i have no idea how this would turn out..
more info here..

The Packard Bell is just too small 8 MB hard drive 6.7 MB free 5.3 max single program if I read the mem screen correctly The Mac has 155.6 MB drive 100.3 MB avalable.
I may be getting an old ex-bussiness machine with Windows 95 or 98 I will know more in about 8 hours.
Linux is out can not run Heavymetal on Linux We are currently exploring the option of putting Heavymetal V 4 in the PB.
