Well, whatever the movie will be, I think that we all are going to see it (maybe not in cinema, but...). If only to have something to swear at. If the movie is going to be bad than I'm sure that we'll see it on DVD soon.

If they make the MechWarrior movie in to one big infomercial for DA, Im personally going to buy DA boosters, melt the contents in my oven, and mail the results to Wiesman. Nothing threatening, mind you. I just want the man to see what he has done to BattleTech.
And as for books being made into movies, there can be only one choice.
Wolves on the Border.

We should make sure he wakes up one morning and finds the head of the Eridani Light Horse in his bed...

As much as I don't like the Clans, I to have to say that this would be a great way to kick off the Movie Franchise. The Clan Invasion has everything that a good story needs: Politics, action, personal interest, special effects, and more action and drama.

Actually fall of the Star League would be another good theme.

That's actually not a bad idea. It still has all the elements I mentioned earlier, with the added benefit that it doesn't require any knowledge of the universe to understand. Then depending uponits success you couldgo just about anywhere in the Classic Universe timeline, even doing 1 movie for each Succession war, though those are really to large in scope for a single movie.
I think a cool idea for a series of movies would be to do the Fall of the Star League, then do a movie based on each house after that and lead into the Clan Invasion.

After reading your ideas on what the movie should be based on (which(BTW) I like the fall of the Star League idea) one name comes to mind...Peter Jackson...look what he did with LotR and King Kong. Sam Raimi would also be a good choice. As for writing a screen play( I'm going to take some hits on this one) Kevin Smith. No before you start to throw things, here's way. The man a comic book nut. and a gamer to boot. he doesn't play Btech (at least none of the articles I have read on him say he does) but he understand the mind of a gamer. And knows not to butcher the story line.

I'm not going to debate about directors or production, because I'm not too knowledgeable about these things, but There is one thing I would like to mention - special effects - I know that modern sci-fi movies can't look bad (well... ), but someone with knowledge of CBT should be involved. You know, war machines shouldn't be knights in polished armor and look sufficiently cumbersome... I know that it's not technical problem, but it can happen if the people making special effects are left unchecked. Not to mention uniforms, unit markings, ...

I think the Jade Phoneix trilogy would make a decent movie if they did it right.

Why are we thinking so small. Why not a weekly TV series. done in the same style as Battlestar or any of the Stargate.
There's more then enough drama to the public in general watching. and (of course) the mechs to keep the gamers happy.

I personnally would like to see something like that, but if they can't get a movie funded, what makes anyone think they could fund a TV show? Besides, I'm affraid they'd screw it up like the did the cartoon (airing the episodes all out of order for one thing) and that they'd totally jack up the story line of the show.

Would I like to see a movie? Yes. I think that warhammer 3025 has it right though, it will probably suck. It doesn't matter what Weisman says, someone elses vision of what the universe looks like at that point in time is not going to mesh with what the designers, current PTB (eepecially the Precentor Marshall), or fans ideas and it won't be received well.
Anyone remember Mek Jocks? It blew. Checked it out due to curiosity, expecting it to suck, and it lived up to the expectation. I think this will be similar. But, thats just me.

This one exemplafies the cheif problem with a lot of ideas that have been put foreward is that you're thinking on too large a scale, the Jade Pheonix Trilogy, Fall of the Star Leage and The Clan Invasion would all require several movies, something Hollywood would NEVER invest in.
As much as we all love CBT it just isn't LoTR and doesn't have anything close to that kind of following, not to mention that in order to generate the kind of interest needed to create a multi-movie series you HAVE to leave questions, which is why Books like Malicious Intent, Measure of a Hero and Path of Glory would all work well because they leave enough questions to get the audiance interested in the universe BEYOND the movies. If you answer all of the questions in the movie no one has any reason to do anymore than more than watch the movies.

OK this is what they should really do. Live Action may not be the right course for it. But a extremely High quality Anime
Take a look at this.
http://www.theshadowchronicles.com/trailer.php?id=nateaser&size=480
This is a new ROBOTECH movie (yeah I know burn me at the steak for bringing that name up). But DAMN man look at the ANIMATION! That is some of the crispest and cleanest animation ever. And that should also help keep some of the costs down. Another movie you can look at is the Starship Troopers Pluto Campaign. Very good, alittle annoying at times yes, but that could have been overcome with better voice acting. That and the faces are still a bit stiff. But other than that it looks very very good.
