Last time I was there (about 3-4 years ago, something like that) it was a mess. you couldn't post a thing without getting flamed. But it is so much better now. The forums are better orginized, the poster or more informitive, and the roleplaying is no longer like unarmed combat, The site has really grown. Has anybody played the megamek game they use? is it any good?
But as good as it is. I like Mordel's better. smaller crowd and good friends. But CBS (Classic Battletech Site, in case you didn't figure it out) is a good place to visit. Thinking about going over to Rick's site to see how it has evolved in my absents.

What CBTer DOESN'T play MegaMek these days?  At least once in a while anyway.

I downloaded it and played for the first time last night against the bot. (I got my rear handed to me, but it was fun) It really is a great little program. Follows Btech to the letter. Tons of fun

You don't need to. Your PbEM games keep you busy enough. And are far better then any program.

Do you mean Warner's old place?
What happened was that ca. 2004 the site suffered a catastrophic server failure that wiped most of the archived data. Once the board was brought back on-line, the mod staff there re-wrote the RoC to be far stricter in regards to rules and punishments.
After all that happened, I just simply bowed out. I hadn't really been playing BTech at the time, and so I was only going there for the Off-Topic forums and to post the occasional design.
I still remember my user number tho - #149. I was one of the last users to register when it was just a quiet board and not CBT itself. At the time, most of the regulars were expatriates from other boards.

Well, I have been assigned factions so I can start to roleplaying and battleling on Megamek (which is actually a pretty cool online program)
I had to choice three faction from the Inner Sphere, and Three from the Clans.
I got the Clan I wanted, Hell's Horses of course. But I didn't get my first choice in the sphere. which was the Federated Suns. But I did get my second choice, which was the Lyran Alliance.
the GM in charge of the HH is giving me my posting and rank. However, the GM for the Lyrans told me to pick anything but Kat and Nomie. because those are already taken.
OK. I know next to nothing about the command structure of the Lyrans. Any advise on a character I could choose?
