With my debate about crits on omni that I have with mud and ICER I've got an idea.
If the players want to leave arms for repairs at the base or simply run out of spare parts than it may be possible to field omnimech without arms using armless mech rules from MaxTech (having guns mounted in torsos instead of arms).
What do you think about it?

HMMMMM, good question I see no reason why not. Feild techs should have no problems removing arms. And since it does not require any major mods on the tech. It should be able to be done on both reg and omnis mechs
I would allow it in my game. But it would be at least 24-36 hours for the techs to do so. so you would out of the battle for that day.

Actually removing the arm shouldn't be a problem within an hour, plus some thirty minutes to adjust the gyro. Maybe it would be made as part of changing configuration. But whole day's work on omni would be too long.
