The Davion re-conquest of Carver V came at a steep price. Although the Lyran
and Marik/Laio forces had been successfully driven off the planet, the Davion
forces had taken severe losses which left them vulnerable to a
counter-offensive.
To help compensate for these losses, Liberty Blacksmithy was set up in order
to produce replacement parts and equipment quickly and cheaply. Not content to
just produce parts, however, the president of Liberty made the decision to
produce a brand-new vehicle.
