One of the rare Phoenix Hawks to not carry a large laser, the K2 is fielded by
the Night Stalkers as a solution to the Phoenix Hawk's notoriously stiff heat
curve. Ten Holly LRM tubes give the 'mech a useful long range capability.
Unlike the Large Laser carried by more traditional variants, the Holly LRM
system does not load the 'mech down with a high heat burden. The LRMs also
let the Phoenix Hawk seriously weaken an opponent before having to close for a
kill.
The 2nd Night Stalkers field a lance of the K2 'mechs. The K2s operate as a
mobile fire support team, providing suppression for Jenners and Locusts
attempting to flank the enemy, or stiffening the defensive firepower the
unit's Panthers and Dragons.

I'm not sure if I like this mech. Good maneuverability and sufficient armor, but just like Phoenix Hawk IIC, it seems a little undergunned. I think that I would rather try something slower, or smaller. Overall interesting modificatin.

The LRMs give you firepower that is basically equal to that provided by the large laser...maybe a little more actual damage because you're going to be working in a better range/heat bracket.
Its certainly not intended to operate on its own though. I see this 'mech working as part of a lance of more conventional scout 'mechs.

Overall damage may be similar, but you'll be probably stuck with two groups of three or four missiles instead of eight point group that is more dangerous against the mechs it will probably face.
This doesn't mean that the mech is poorly thought out. It's mission profile is simply different.
Maybe I would sacrifice the MGs for some ammo. Twelve reloads are enough for shorter skirmish, but it would use more in deep raid. Special ammo may also be handy

I thought about scrapping the M.G.s too, but I decided to keep them just to make it feel a bit more real...if that makes any sense. I wanted to keep the P. Hawk's jack of all trades aspect, and the M.G.s are part of that image. Still...having a Phoenix Hawk that could run around laying FASCAM all over the place could be just the thing.

It's still possible to drop only one MG and half ton of ammo to increase the ammo load

Probably not the best choice against footsloggers, but yes
