I've been tinkering with this design and its fluff for the past week or so. I wanted a 'mech that was extremely effective against conventional forces (tanks, infantry), but couldn't quite stand up to the wear of time.

==Overview:==
The Vinci was designed from a simple missive: "Design a Battlemech whose
extreme Violence of Action will have maximum psychological effect upon
conventional forces".
==Capabilities:==
Everything about the Vinci was designed to inflict terror and sew havoc among
non-Battlemech forces. The 'Mechs gaunt, almost skeletal shape and quick,
fluid movements are intended to evoke images of death in the mind of its prey,
and its impressive ground speed (compared to many conventional vehicles of the
time) gave the impression that escape was impossible once the attack had
begun.
Every weapon on the Vinci series was custom-built in small factories near the
main assembly plant on Terra. The Armstrong Highspeed Custom autocannon was
capable of sustained barrages of 28mm shells at almost 650 Rounds Per Minute
for over six minutes at a time, and was built with integral sound amplifiers
to maximize the impact of the firing noise on unprotected infantry. The effect
on unprotected ears within 100 meters was described as being inside the bass
speaker at a death metal concert.
The Krieger "Fireblaze" Laser Cannon was a two-setting beam weapon. The first
setting was the standard battlefield setting, discharging all energy in a
fraction of a second on a single point on the target. The second setting was a
slower, one-point-five second beam designed to be maximally effective against
infantry formations; the pilot could "sweep" the beam over multiple targets.
The Hovertec Sharktooth missile systems also had twin firing modes; a standard
tight-pattern mode for dealing with armored threats, and a "drunkfire" mode
that scattered missiles throughout the target area, inflicting maximum havoc
on enemy infantry. This secondary mode also had the advantage of being able to
rubble large numbers of buildings quickly in urban settings.
The Zippo WydeBlast flame projector had a full 35-degree projection arc,
allowing the cannon to incinerate large numbers of closely packed infantry, or
burning large patches of real estate, very quickly.
==Deployment==
The Vinci was a relatively common anti-infanty 'mech leading into the late
2500s, when the design was phased out in favor of more modern, high-tech
designs. The decline of technology during the succession wars brought many
Vincis out of mothball storage, but the lack of proper repair parts doomed the
designs future in the 31st century.
Currently the only Vinci class battlemechs known to exist are in various
battlemech museums scattered around the Inner Sphere.
