OOC: Who says that acting sneaky always brings desired results? You can always step on cat sleeping in the corner (in DnD it's called critical 1 , or it may be sleeping Motown with secret weapon ready to fire (=drunk) if you are able to roll 0 on d20  ).
EDIT: OOC: ...and yes, you can step on yourself if you can roll 0, it's called theory of impossibility attraction. One impossible thing always seems to attract another and you can bet that the number of impossibilities may start to grow rapidly

Try to imagine a Stalker sneaking! Perfectly silent Stalker moves through the city in an attempt to crush infantryman standing on the corner, suddenly there is a Bulldog coming from the other side of the street Stalker makes sharp turn and *wham* the street was too narrow to contain mech's body, so two houses collapse. Than Stalker sneak attacks surprised Bulldog and kills him with loud explosion... and the infantryman? Damn, he just failed his listen check
