1/2 the armor on the sides and 1/3 on the front and back, you haven't mentioned its fighter defenses and it has 1/3 of the fighter compliment. I am pretty sure the Leviathan would turn your Texas into more of a Rhode Island.

Then I suppose it's good they only built what? Two leviathans?

The Ghost Bears began construction of the Leviathan to make it the largest battleship ever but as the two ships where almost ready with only lacking the main armament (!)
the Ghost Bear Khans made the decision to relocate their clan to the Inner Sphere.
Now they had to transport millions of people across a thousand light years!
So they decided to drop the main armament for the ability to carry over 320.000 tons of cargo and 250.000 passengers!!!!!!!
Now with the clan living in the Inner Sphere both ships were begun to convert into real battleships but the Ghost Bears enemies are lucky that this will take several years to accomplish!
So the said configuration is that of an armed personnel carrier! Try to imagine what a battleship configuration would look like!!!

No...it isn't...What I listed is straight from HMAera as the Leviathan 2, NOT the transport version...that is AFTER the conversion back to battleship form...

Two Leviathans, which are now being converted to Leviathan 2's, and 1 straight up Leviathan 2 (the Rasalhague)...
And as for lacking the armor and fighter complement...perhaps...but the firepower is about equivalent between the two ships...I also have about 30,000 tons of cargo I could drop and put into SI and armor...this would give me a SI of 102, with armor of 520 fore, 506 aft and 554 per side...Granted, still not up with the Leviathan, but not bad considering the nearly 1,000,000 ton difference in mass...not to mention that my Texas is using Star League tech, not Clan tech...if I did that, I could have over 600 armor pts per side, with 565 fore and aft...
Of course the Leviathan 2 is a superior ship to the Texas...it masses 1 million tons more...but the firepower is lacking for a ship its size...give it lamellor ferro-carbide armor, and drop the SI to just above what is needed for the armor load (115 SI), and you gain back 85,000 tons that can be used for more weapons...although realistically, that won't give you that many more...but a couple dozen more NAC-30s, or a couple dozen HNPPC's, or even some more naval gauss rifles would make the ship more impressive...

Traditionally there appear to be 4 major warship (capitol)classes, Frigate, Destroyer, Cruiser, and Battleship. The Heavy/Light and other designations seem to define an aspect of the design at that weight that is emphasized. The building nation seems to define what heavt/light et. al. applies too.
You then get the ships designed for a mission. Carrier, Escort, Research...... They vary in size in their own areas much like the Capitol ships.
Look at the CVE,CVA,and CV classes CVE were escort carriers carrying a squadron and built on liberty/victory ship hulls. The CVA's were designed to fit into a fleet and to provide ranged punch. The modern CV's are the centerpiece that a fleet is built around.
Escorts range in size from a Coast Guard Cutter to a Frigate depending on the escort/security role they provide.

Once again you have yet to mention your fighter defenses. Considering the fact that your Texas surrenders 200 fighters to the Leviathan I would really hope that you anti fighter defenses are top notch.
You armor is still no comparison.
And last but not least, you are talking about a HEAVILY MODIFIED Texas, not your standard ship.
If I were to heavily modify the Leviathan to be a ship killer along the same lines that you did then it would be the ship incarnation of armageddon.
Stock ship to stock ship, nobody comes close
Mod. ship to Mod. ship, nobody comes close.
Stock ship to Mod ship, it still wins.
Leviathan = amazing.

They are as heavy as I could make them...each arc has the following:
4 x AMS
4 x ER PPC
4 x Large Pulse Lasers
4 x LB-10X
With the sides also having 2 Gauss Rifles each (Fore-sides, broadsides, and aft-sides)
This is in addition to the 16 AR-10 tubes with their Barracudas...note that this is TEN MORE tubes than the Leviathan 2...

Granted...I never said otherwise...

And I grant you that (well, at least the last half of your statement...from what I've seen, it would be hard to give it sufficient guns to impress me, and still keep all of that armor and SI)...because it masses nearly 500,000 tons more than its closest competition...not to mention nearly ONE MILLION tons more than the Texas...
If you didn't outclass every other ship in existance when you mass that much more than them, I would be very ashamed...
But that's akin to a school yard bully thinking he's the best because he's bigger and stronger than everyone else...

To you, it is...to me, it's an underwhelming, ungraceful, lumbering barge with next to no cargo for its size (a mere 2% of its entire mass is in the cargo section...and half of that is in spare parts for the ship itself...I pity those 300 fighters that may lack spare parts down the road)...it fails to impress me...and whose firepower, if not armor and fighter capacity, I can match on a MUCH smaller ship...although I can easily match its fighter capacity on a smaller ship, and still keep much of the firepower...
