OK first I'm sorry if this has been asked b4
so please be patient bcuz I have no patience for a thorough search.
Also if you know the answer via experience please don't say "Hey newb, go ask FASA!"
on to the questions/remarks: why were the game-play mechanics changed btwn MW3 and MW4? In MW3 if you shot off a foot the Mech couldn't walk anywhere and usually fell over.
in MW4 no matter how long you shot at the feet
the Mech would not really lose the function of the feet and you had to totally destroy the Mech to win. BTW I like the idea of salvaging all available parts to add to your Mech or save as a later repair.
Did anyone else(like you wouldn't have) notice that someone in Japan has built a full size Mech/
Herc? kind of reminded me of an Owens: no
arms. It seems to have trouble walking and only
shuffles along and not very fast.
What's the problem with not
using real world physics in a Mech game?
please be nice when answering: I've only played MW3 and MW4 and I'm not a full immersive player

I've played only MW2 and a demo of MW3 (not available for buying here at the moment) MW 4 was simply too demanding for my computer.
But to the real word physics question. It's a game so making it too complicated may actually hamper it and applying real world for machines that don't exist is not so easy. Not to mention that you need to devote some effort to do that and there are fans who want to see the rules implemented into the game, not physics. So reality has a place in MechWarrior, but it shouldn't limit the fun from playing.

I agree with the mech 4 thing. You could walk your fire around the head of the mech and see several consecutive hits (with CLAN PPC's mind you) and the head would go orange but would never knock the head off.
of the 2 I prefer Mech 3. (no garbage about the timberwolf NOT being able to jump as in mech 4)
