Well I ran my normal campaign the other day and we converted over to Total Warfare. Gave my guys a few weeks to get the books and get up to speed on the rules.
Only a pair of fights but this is what I can say.
1) New vehicle hit chart makes it real easy to immobilize a vehicle.
2) Not having any long range weapons due to item #1 is a issue.
3) Drifting with Hover at flank and the increased chance of a motive hit really makes them fragile. Still deadly but no longer fearsome.
4) Infantry still did not impress due to limited range.
5) Infantry is harder to kill, unless you have pulse lasers and MGs. Then they die in droves.
I will try more infantry in tighter terrain against their Mechs that are lacking in anti-infantry soon to see how that plays out. The tanks did not die easy. But make sure they are in a position the Mechs have to move through, otherwise they will just go around.
AWAD- Aerospace ground attack is up next. Will let you know how it goes

I'm a bit out of the loop on new products, as the local stores don't deal with FanPro that much. Is Total Warfare a re-hash of Maximum Tech?

Total Warfare includes the new revamped rules and replaces the BMR´s! A lot of rules (especially the ones for vehicles) and even some weapons are taken over from MaxTech. But most rules were updated and clarified.

Mech Stuff did not change much. Piloting skill for physicals is one that comes to mind. A lot of clarification so no arguing. Tons of examples. Movement concerning buildings changed.
Infantry and Vechicles got updated, upgraded, and overhauled. This is the real serious changes. Some from Max Tech but a lot of it tweaked one way or another.
Also they tried to intergrate Aerospace better.
AWAD- Worth the $40. But wish I could get the Aero rules nice and condensed also.

The Tech Manual has been moved to a Feb. 2007 release
(though i haven't got TW yet, i may wait till TM is released, and then buy them both at the same time)
My wife will probably kill me for spending that much money on two books (approx. $80)

I have been saving money for quite some time, but NOW I would like to see WHEN it comes here (grumble mumble). There should be at least some support in our country at least BASIC RULES.

DVD- $20.00
CD- $15.00
X-box Game- $60.00+
PC Game- $40.00+
Btech Novel $7.00+
Yes a little steep but for the amount of paper and usage you will get out of it nothing if compared to the previous items. For some reason people get miffed at the cost of rule books. Remember this product will have a huge 6 months sales and then trickle off tremendously. So the company has to survive.
As for the wife thing, can not help you there.
But an idea,
Perfume- $40.00+
Bras- $25.00+
Roses- $20.00
A night of romance and sex and then being able to pull out your $80 Btech books with nothing being said..... PRICELESS (or a grand total of $160)
Or hide them and sneak a read at work and make sure it is not on a credit card receipt so she never finds out.... SNEAKY but stressful.
