I think the season 2 idea might flounder on Joss Whedon saying he was done with Firefly for the foreseable future.

The show and the movie do well enough to tell the story...it would be nice to see more but sometimes not getting the second season can be a good thing.
I wanted to see more Space Above and Beyond as well as more Tales of the Golden Monkey...but that didn't happen...
