Sure this mech has a Medium Laser, but in this day and age, it ain't going to do jack.
--The mech is designed to be used in the Periphery against bandits and civil unrest- usually in an urban enviornment with primarily Level 1 tech. ML's work great in lvl 1 and are still quite useful in restricted terrain in lvl 2, should any high-tech mechs find their way out that far.
The speed decrease is also going to be a pain, 20-tonners don't have much armour in the first place and cutting their speed is only going to hurt them.
--Moving 5/8/5 gives the same targeting penalties as 6/9/6. In restricted terrain the difference is minimal
Great target practice for them green Steiner Assault Mech pilots.
--Who takes a single 20 tonner against assault mechs? And a green pilot would have as much trouble against this as a regular Stinger.
--The idea here was to have a cheap defensive boost that can easily be retrofitted from existing mechs. RL's, although not super-accurate, are good enough for point-blank ambushes. It's cheap and makes decent use of Stingers that aren't too useful by themselves.

The RLs are better used on vehicles. You are better off going with OS Streak 2s on a mech. That way you only fire IF you get a good to hit roll.
RLs are waste of space and tonnage on a mech.

Personally I would rather mount a RL than a OS anything.

Why? The RLs are one shot then they are done till then off the game. Same as the OS weapons.
At least with the Streak OS SRM2 you have a chance of it not firing and not losing the shot if you miss, which the RLs don't.
Plus the OS Streak doesn't have a modifer added to the roll which the RL do have.

For a Streak 2 (OS) (with that silly + 0,5t) you can mount four RL 10 (the only RL i would ever use!) and the +1 to hit modifier only matters at ranges of up to 3 hexes due to the shorter range brackets of the Streak!
On the other side that "only shoot when you hit" is the advantage of the Streak!
So i think its a matter of personal like / dislike.
As i tend to dislike OS that are heavier than its ammo feeded counterparts i'm taking RL`s mostly
.

Well, basically for 2 tons a 20 tonner that is essentially Level one, and will most likely be facing level one opponents at close range can do a possible 40 point is one turn. It probably won't get a really juicy shot more than once or twice in a game anyway. The mech isn't really more valuable than a conventional vehicle, and is fast enough (in restricted terrain) and tough enough (for a 20 tonner) to fire off it's rockets, and then retreat to reload. Or stick around and help out against infantry and vehicles (like a regular Stinger). Or you can fire them one or two at a time, and resemble an Urbanmech for a few turns.
OS's are _really_ heavy for their damage potential, Streak or otherwise.
RL's have never been my favorite, either, but they're not useless on mechs. Just most mechs. Although they're in lvl 2 rules, they are pretty much level 1 tech (or level 1/2?). You probably won't be seeing them on the same battlefield as rotary autocannons and heavy gauss rifles.
I've used this one in combat- the RL's were pretty handy. They also had an added bonus: my opponent didn't know how many rockets I had- so he wasted a lot of energy (and MP) making sure I couldn't get the Stinger beind him. It certainly isn't an Atlas killer, but it gave as good as it got against much larger opponents.

Thing is though you do see them and folks then complain when the RLs do what they do, which is miss most of the time.
Then you ave folks who arm mechs with nothing but RLs and then complain when it does live or do even a quater of the damage etc...
Then the one thing that drives me up the wall is the folks who forget the RLs are OS weapons...and the keep trying to fire them the next turn.
