Overview:
"What the HELL was that?" was the initial reaction from TSi
Senior Test Pilot Will "Valentine" Ubemine as he was attacked by a
phantom machine in the testing grounds. He was given no informarion
regarding the design he was testing against, but was told to be ready
for anything. What he got was like nothing that he expected.[HARD
RETURN]Ancient history states the Arquebus was a power rifle that
ended the age of Knights. The Arquebusier was a soldier trained to
fight with this weapon, then move to a new spot before they could be
located. While the ARQ may not end the age of 'mechs, it will
definately be an interesting site on the battlefield.

Capabilities:
TSi is long renown for creating innovative, if somewhat
expensive, designs. The newest model, the ARQ-1525 Arquebusier is no
exception. The 'mech is built around the massive Nissan 315 XL
engine, providjng the 35 ton mech with speeds reaching into the
150kph range, a feat not met by many lesser sized mechs, let alone
anything of equal tonnage.
Endo Steel makes up the interal build, and although bulky, the
mech is still streamlined...if a bit long. Six tons of Ferro-Fibrus
armor protect the complicated inner workings, and further enhance the
angular fron, but curved rear look of the ARQ. The 'mech is
considered to be overly armored for its mission...but pilots consider
the design quite safe.
The NULL-SIG system installed in the 'mech is what makes the
'mech truly impressive. At long ranges, the system plays with
targeting devices, nearly preventing any attacking 'mech from getting
a targetting lock. At the same time, the ARQ is firing its own
Extended Range PPC, attached with a special capacitor to increase the
damage potential of the weapon. Heat can be a large problem for the
design, as firing the charged PPC at full speed with the NULL-SIG
activated will burn out the system.

Known Variants:
There are two known variations to the design. Both focus on MASC
additions, pushing the ARQ to an unprecedented 180 kph for shor
distances. The design is consdered to be dangerous, however, as MASC
is known to lock up the joints...a place pilots dont want to be
in.
Variant 1 dropes the Capacitor and the extra heat sink in favor
of a normal ER PPC. MASC is added to the left torso area. Variant 2
drops a full 2 tons of armor, mostly from the legs and torso, and
adds the MASC
