I think they could, but I KNOW some systems would be... to put it nicely, faulty. I'm sure some weapons wouldn't work, engine may produce extra heat... things of that nature. Also it would be manned by a skeleton crew most likely, so it would have a lower crew rating for it. Also, the captain wouldn't be very experienced... at least not with a warship.

Right, I doubt the ship would 100% in perfect condition. But it could be done, they could keep it running and even at 60% they are doing pretty good.

They'd probably also do good enough that someone wants to send a real 100% operating Warship to have "negotiations" with them. Pirating the Periphery borders makes it less likely, but that also makes spare parts and rich loot less likely. Even something as simple as armor might be impossible to find.

Hell, I'd say anything 40% and up would be doing good heh. Even some fleets of IS houses and some Clan navies cannot keep their ships at 100% on extended tours.

True, and that broadens the field of play so to speak for the pirates. It is always assumed that the pirates only operate in the Periphery, who's to say that is actually true?

I doubt very much it IS true. There are plenty of uninhabited systems inside the inner sphere, and I myself would think piracy mostly occurs on the major shipping lanes, or near them. Otherwise the pickings would be too slim.

Sane people generally avoid jumping through uninhabited systems. The chance that something goes wrong with your K-F drive is microscopic, but IF it malfunctions you're stuck forever.

But the pirates would use them to jump into the shipping lanes.

Just line the NoN-standard jump points are called pirate points...I am sure that this so because of who normally uses or used them...
