these were pretty good.

329. Not allowed to spoil the plot by simply removing the hinges on the door.
353. I cannot pick a Destroid that makes the Veritech pilots feel inadequate.

But these 2 made me laugh uncontrollably.

file this under "I know too many random things"
"901: They Make platemail in a variety of styles. Crotchless isn't one of them."
Actually, they make platemail in a variety of styles. All of them are crotchless.
Reason: it takes anywhere from 30 to 90 minutes to put it on and take it off. A knight will need to go to the bathroom in something less than that.
They will be hauberks, chain-shirts, and other protection for the general region of butt and crotch; however, no actual plates there.
Humerous side note: the French (among others, including the Scots) used this to their advantage, not wearing pants, so as to make it easier to insult the enemy when they drew up lines, and to allow unfettered dumping of...um, balast, in the middle of a swordfight.
Very useful at Agincourt, when both armies had dysintery (the English, not wearing heavy plate in the first place, simply didn't where pants).
The English longbowman in particular liked to use these parts of the anatomy for target practice when the battle was just starting. _________________ "Politics is the Art of looking for trouble, finding it everywhere, misdiagnosing the problem, and applying the wrong solution."

You really know too much if this is true. It does add something to the reasons for hating English longbowmen, though.

Bah yup I came across the last one and forgot to change the 2 to a 3.
Mostly because I was still laughing.

Borrowed a book from a professor (he got a copy to review from University of Kentucky Press) called Medieval Warfare and it's Influence in the Modern Age (or something like that, I've already returned it)
It has scenes from a 15th century manuscript about Agincourt. One of the pictures is of a french soldier mooning the archers, with several long shafts sticking out of his rear.
Whether it happened a lot or not I don't know. But it certainly occured to the archers frequently. Similar pictures go back to the 12th century. _________________ "Politics is the Art of looking for trouble, finding it everywhere, misdiagnosing the problem, and applying the wrong solution."

Am I the only one that is not amused by this? No disrespect, I just don't get the whole thing. I mean, its not really funny or anything. But then again I don't play Dungeons and Dragons or watch Lord of the Rings every day.

Then that's why it's not funny. It's like "you had to be there" jokes. Either you get it, or you don't. _________________ Evil is like a bowl of oranges. Only one, instead, is an orange of DOOM. That orange has a fate to rule over the other oranges with an iron fist. That orange is me.

Right. I don't get all of them. Or at least I don't find a lot of them funny, but that's only because I can't relate to them. The ones I could relate to because something similar has happened to me or someone else in my group, I find funny.
You definitely have to be there for the joke to be funny. _________________ Mordel Blacknight - Site Administrator
