This is the first mech from my Academy Project (see fluff!!).
This project consists of all mechs in the original TRO 3025 and I made this a poll to ask you if you want to see more (and please tell me which one!).

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
==Overview:==
In May 3067 the graduating classes of the Luthien Acadamy Of Military Design
got a challenging task to accomplish.
They had to design a BattleMech with the latest CAD-technology and under
following terms:
1. Take a classic BattleMech design used in the 3rd Succession War.
2. Construct an OmniMech chassis upon this basis.
3. Suggest weapon configurations for that chassis; at least four but not more
than seven.
3. a) The primary configuration has to be based upon the original weapon
layout of the classic design.
3. b) If possible include following configuration types: city-fighter,
LRM-support, fire-support/sniper.
All OmniMechs were graded by a committee and loaded into a battlefield
simulation program.
The LCT-O was presented by Student Serina Kawamata.
==Capabilities:==
Student Kawamata kept the original speed and armor but used an
EndoSteel-chassis and the new light engine to save tonnage.
This measures allowed the LCT-O to carry respectable 5,5 ton as pod-space.
Intrigued by the firepower of the new LCT-5M, that just started to walk off
the Corean production lines, she used the same weapon loadout for the primary
configuration (though the original LCT-1V, after that this configuration had
to be modelled, carried MG's) and augmented it by a targeting computer. An
active probe rounds off its equipment.
The A-configuration was designed as an anti-vehicle measure carrying two
streak launcher besides a medium ER laser.
To serve the LRM-support niche the B features double LRM-5's but only a
limited (though CASEd) ammo supply and no backup weapon similar to the LCT-3D
of 3050.
The C and D were infantry hunters with MG's and Flamers respectively and a
medium class laser as main gun.
As very interesting configuration the E carried only limited firepower but was
able to do a 210 meter jump by carrying 7 torso-mounted jump jets!
Finally the F served as a sniper with its large ER laser.
==Battle History:==
The trials the academys battlefield simulation program revealed an unsuspected
problem: Though 130 kph was considered extremely fast in 3025 the light mechs
of an 3067 battlefield often outperformed it. So the protection through speed
wasn't as high as expected.
Despite that each configuration worked well within its intended role except
the B!
Kawamata repeated the mistakes of the LCT-3D's designers more than 17 years
ago because she thought that the additional armor protection would let it
survive.
But even though it had a much better survivability it failed to achieve its
objectives due to ammo shortage. It had to retreat from combat much too soon
and was doomed if cornered because it had neither a defense weapon nor jump
jets!
==Variants:==
Serina Kawamata designed two additional configurations that were dropped as
she was only allowed to submit a maximum of 7 configurations. Dubbed G and H
this versions carried a medium and small ER laser combination and a staggering
array of RL-10 (G) and small ER lasers (H) respectively .

I'm of mixed mindset on the project. While I like seeing new variants of 'Mechs...
OmniMechs in general don't mesh with me. They should be rare, I think, in the Inner Sphere. Same with fighters. I am a proponent of Omni-Vehicles, but again, I'm getting off topic. Take this one for example. Nearly same speed as a Raptor, slightly more armor. I'd just take a Raptor with a new Light engine that made up the difference with a bit of pod space. Or an Owens come to that. There are only so many omnis necessary in any weight class. Usually, speed sets them apart. _________________ Jarylan Blackwell

Thats why I make it an Academy Project: All the students of this graduating class submit one Omni-mech but that doesn't mean that all these Omnis were put into production!!
Maybe the commitee chooses the mech that they deemed the best and propose it to the DCMS for a production model! If this takes place is another question though!
I don't want to flood the IS with Omnis!!!!! _________________ Reality is where the Pizza-man comes from!'Gucken, petzen, verpissen!' Well, yeah then. Go ahead. We'll get to see new and interesting refits, and at the end of this, maybe we could all vote on which Omni makes it to production. *chuckles* Sounds like a good idea then. _________________ Jarylan Blackwell

Well, why not a 55 ton Omni based on one of the following: Griffin, Shadow Hawk, Wolverine.
They're all 55 tons, all the same speed, and similar armor situations. You could replicate all of them with one chassis.
Given that, I vote to make it an Omni-Shadow Hawk, because the Hawk looks coolest. *grin* _________________ Jarylan Blackwell

Ahh, finally some time to take a look on this.
Base chassis is pretty hard to kill for it's size and the cost isn't that bad.
Primary configuration is a nice scout and backbiter. It lacks the ability to kill infantry like it's predecessor, but there are other configurations for this.
4.0
A configuration is strange. Is there anything special? I fail to notice a reason for it to exist. Streak SRMs don't have any advantage or give the LCT more firepower than the other configurations have. I would rather try to transform it to spotter with standard SRMs and TAG.
2.5
B configuration is a mobile fire support platform, but the firepower is low. The main limit is in 'Mechs size and there is nothing that could be done with this.
3.0
C configuration is an infantry murderer. The pulse laser can deal with fast hover units, but the 'Mech has to be close, which is partially offset by speed. Not bad.
3.5
D configuration has similar abilities to C, but manages to do the same with more collateral damage and without ammo. Normally I would prefer fusing this configuration with C, because in most aspects they are similar, but the ability to overheat the enemy clearly gives the D configuration the right to exist.
4.0
E configuration has only one thing to say, bye. 8/12/7 movement allows it to get anywhere and get out again with ease, but it's weapons are limited.
3.5
F configuration is clearly the sniper configuration. I hope that the creators of the Hussar can see this.
3.0
G configuration looks scary and it should be able to run for reloads = usable.
3.0
H configuration is a backbiter that can disintegrate a lot of armor in short amounts of time. I would try to use the TC to allow it to concentrate firepower instead of spreading the damage around the enemy.

Thanks for the detailed review, SD!
What do you think about the fluff (Academy Project)?
Which 3025 mech would you like to be posted here next (if any!)?

Well I second the Shadowhawk (best looking of the 55 tonners) As well as the Thunderbolt, Battlemaster, and a Banshee. You could do some of the most popular from each weight class, depending on how many students you have and which chassies are reafily avaliable to the DCMS. _________________ Stinger If it's "creepy" to use the Internet, military satellites, and robot aircraft to find a house full of gorgeous young models so I can drop in on them unexpected, then FINE, I'm "creepy". I've decided that there are 55 student in three classes so that I can offer every mech of the (original) TRO 3025!!
I have already done all the omnis on paper and some on HMP! But before I`m posting the next one I've to do some more fluff.
So now we have SHD = two and VTR = one!
Any more votes? _________________ Reality is where the Pizza-man comes from!'Gucken, petzen, verpissen!' (Look at it, squeal it, get the hell away from it!) – Motto of the recon troops'Artillery doesn´t know friend or foe! They only know worthwhile targets!‘ – Kuritan Infantrist

Hmmm...Good idea but I would distinguish between the SHD on one side and the GRF and WVR on the other!
When I design an omni based on a classic design I try to keep the look of the original in all the configurations! (I don't like omnis that carry an AC/20 in the left arm in one config and a gauss rifle in the right arm in another config!)
As GRF and WVR both have a "heavy" main gun in their right arm and a torso-mounted missile launcher while the SHD has mostly torso-mounted weaponry I would make an omni "Grifferine" and an omni ShadowHawk! _________________ Reality is where the Pizza-man comes from!'Gucken, petzen, verpissen!'
