A design type I don't recall seeing very often: the bomber.

With an acceleration of 6Gs, it can outrun the meaner aerospace fighters out there. And as for the small, faster ones... well that's what ejection seats are for. It can bring to bear 5 tons of ordinance, in this case an inferno loadout. And the last selling point: with a price tag less than 1/5th that of even a LCT-1V Locust, you can deploy these guys en masse pretty easily.

It is a little hard to design a bomber in AT2 because of the utter lack of internal bomb space. You end up making designs that do virtually with their space like EXCESSIVELY huge engines, 300 percent armor, and a unit carrying EVERY piece of misc equipment just so you can get a bomber with 15 or so tons of bombs.

If you just allow internal bomb stores, however, you get alot of bomber opportunities. Or you just design a friggin A-10ish strike bomber.

We allowed internal bomb-bays on our fighters and used the level bombing rules for it.

Well you could call the cargo bay the bomb bay...

I wish they would change things but they didn't want a generic set of rules for Aerotech 2...I have lots of areas I think they could do better in...one good one would be to pull the conventional aircraft from the Support Vehicle rules and merge them and how to make them into the Conventional Fighter rules and expand those rules to allow for a wider range of aircraft thus giving more and keeping like with like...
