==Overview:==
The BMP ("Basic Military Patrol") unit represents the first original design to
come out of the Duchy of Small. The Duchy has been aggressive towards some of
its neighbors, and so it only makes sense that it would develop an indigenous
weapons factory to help back up its boasts.
On the surface, the BMP appears to be little different from other light tanks.
It has an AC/5 as its main weapon, and a machine gun to support it. While the
infantry compartment is somewhat novel, it's not all that original.
What does make the BMP stand out, however, is the fact that it comes from the
factory with amphibious locomition equipment. Information is spotty as to
possible reasons why, but the most likely scenario is that the Duchy simply
wanted a vehicle that could have a limited operational capacity in water. It
has been argued that the Duchy is lacking hovercraft and bridgelaying units,
but this cannot be confirmed at this time.

I just barely had enough tonnage for the machine gun; adding missiles would mean downgrading the AC/5 to an AC/2. Even then, you'd only get an SRM 2 rack or some RL 10s. _________________ "I wish I could write as mysterious as a cat." -Edgar Allen Poe"I knew there was something special about you, but I never realized you were really a cat." An useful vehicle, but I would like to try the LAC/5 variant. I think that LACs are easy to get even to small nations and here it would save A LOT of tonnage. _________________ The dragon NEVER sleeps!

I've to support SD here. An LAC/5 would free 3 tons so you can get a full 3 ton infantry bay and maybe two RL-10 for some missile support. _________________ Reality is where the Pizza-man comes from!'Gucken, petzen, verpissen!' 1 ton of infantry bay should be more then enough. Again the differences in the rules for what a group of 28 infantry troopers weigh needs fixing. _________________ Karagin Only the dead have seen the end of war. - Plato

With 28 troopers in 3 tons you'll have 107 kg per trooper! Idon't think that this can be fixed to fit into 1 ton! (Or do I get something wrong? I'm not sure what you really want to say ) _________________ Reality is where the Pizza-man comes from!'Gucken, petzen, verpissen!' What I am saying is how many troopers are you carrying for 1 ton?
Most APCs won't be carrying a whole platoon of guys, it doesn't makes sense nor is it smart.
So captain, why did the attack fail?
Well Colonel, we had all of platoons in the four APCs you sent us and well the enemy hit us with arty and air strikes. We lost all four platoons as well as the four APCs.
So again given that, what is the actual amount of troopers being carried for one ton?
If you say it's seven guys for one ton then you need 4 tons to hold all 28 soldiers. Yet if you break the platoon down and suggest that some have LMGs or other support weapons then the weight goes up and you have spend more get them on the vehicle. _________________ Karagin Only the dead have seen the end of war. - Plato

Oh, I see! The BT standard APC's had 1 ton of infantry bay each and we have played ever since with one squad per APC regardless of the rules forbidding splitted platoons. Actually we took 0,75 tons per foot squad!
But as more and more heavier APC's surfaced in BT that carried whole platoons (To be in line with their own rules ) we adopted that way of thinking in platoons. _________________ Reality is where the Pizza-man comes from!'Gucken, petzen, verpissen!' I never bought into the you can't split up platoons way of thinking. Could you tell me where in the rule book it states that so I can mark it. _________________ Karagin Only the dead have seen the end of war. - Plato
