With the release of Transformers, do you think that a Battletech movie is far behind???? _________________ Sir Henry

Just as far behind as it always has been. BattleTech doesn't have the following that Transformers does. I don't think we'll ever see a true BT movie unless a director comes along who loves to play. I'm afraid it would come out looking like RoboJox. _________________ Mordel Blacknight - Site Administrator

Sad, but probably true.
At least someone should alert him that combat like this is cofined to Solaris VII or a few other planets. On the other hand they could combine this witha good CBT story. A few intrigues á-la classic Solaris pilot conflicts and for epic batles to the end comes the Jihad. Suits standard scheme for a movie focused on special effects and in solaris (and blakist) mix of technologies they could hide whatever they are not aware of in real CBT universe (and for which would some fans, me included, would try to introduce them to an UAC/20). _________________ The dragon NEVER sleeps!

More like RoboJox meets Capitan Future meets bad 70s/80s SciFi...
And given that the target audience would be kids, we can expect more fluffiness and less "action".
Hell, folks are still complaining about the Jedi getting killed in Ep3, mainly the part where Anakin cuts down the younglings...so I doubt if it ever got made it would have the true gritty, dirty war movie with a scifi twist of mechs and such, it would be as Mordel said more akin to Robotech in the end. _________________ Karagin Only the dead have seen the end of war. - Plato

I laughed a long time when I saw Darth Vader standing up from the table and seeking Padme, man that was funny... and lame.
Do you think that the SW would be accessible for 15 and below if the enemy massacred in droves weren't droids?
CBT movie should begin with Firestarter cleaning the street from infantry... _________________ The dragon NEVER sleeps!

Awe yes, but you see even the books of the SW universe and comic, not all of the enemy soldiers where droids... _________________ Karagin Only the dead have seen the end of war. - Plato

Yes, but even then the lightsabers made clean cuts, no blood ever
Not that I mind that, but CBT isn't SW... _________________ The dragon NEVER sleeps!

No valid point, but I refer you back to EPIV Cantinia setting, Obi-wan cuts of the arm of the Walrus guy...lots of blood...
And if you look at the fighting, clones die by the dozens, I recall seeing one or two flying around after their ships were taken out. The bloodless lightsaber stuff is no worse then the bloodless beheadings of Highlander and other similar shows.
Meanwhile in BT missiles, bullets, and lasers are flying around and things go boom and no everyone has the Force or body armor etc...showing that maybe harder since the audience wants SciFi not a rehash of a WW2 movie with robots...that is the part that will need to be gotten over. _________________ Karagin Only the dead have seen the end of war. - Plato

as far as i know, the film in that short youtube thing is still in the works.
if we could only get Jerry Bruckheimer, Tim Burton, Chris Nolan, or Kurt Wimmer... we'd be all set.
Nolan, and Bruckheimer would keep it rather tech-ish... but Burton and Wimmer do excelent dark stuff. Wimmer did Ultraviolet, and Equilibrium. _________________ "A 'Mech as powerful as possible, as impenetrable as possible, and as ugly and foreboding as conceivable, so that fear itself will be our ally."Aleksandr Kerensky — On the Atlas

Given WHO owns the rights to the storyline and their target audience, dark won't happen. _________________ Karagin Only the dead have seen the end of war. - Plato

Hope for the best, plan for the worst.
It would most likely suck entirely from our perspective if it even made it to the screen. _________________ "I prefer to fight for a meaningful purpose, rather than to provide a spectacle for the ignorant masses."

I'm sure the acting would suck, but the visuals would be awesome... _________________ Sir Henry

Movie no. Sci Fi channel series would work.
The combat scenes could be done CGI and not supper high end easily. A lot from the distance. Then from inside the cockpit with some higher resolution.
You could have core Merc unit and easily do a few power persons in far flung places. So gives lots of personalities to hate and love. Over time much easier to be grey and mutli story lines in a series than an action packed movie.
AWAD- Transformers did rock.
