The books weren't my thing, but he was a good writer.
Here is bit part:
Jim Rigney, who writes as Robert Jordan, told Locus: 'I have been diagnosed with amyloidosis. That is a rare blood disease which affects only 8 people out of a million each year ...' His treatment (drastic bone marrow replacement) starts this month, and he's determined to beat the statistics that suggest a median life expectancy of four years.
Plus, of interest to folks here, "He served two tours in Vietnam (from 1968 to 1970) with the U.S. Army where he earned the Distinguished Flying Cross with bronze oak leaf cluster, the Bronze Star with "V" and bronze oak leaf cluster, and two Vietnamese Gallantry Crosses with palm. After returning from Vietnam he attended The Citadel where he received an undergraduate degree in physics. After graduating he was employed by the US Navy as a nuclear engineer." _________________ Karagin Only the dead have seen the end of war. - Plato

So the never ending line of novels, as some called his work, finally met it's end. _________________ The dragon NEVER sleeps!

Odds favor the publisher hiring another writer to use Jordan's notes to finish things. _________________ Karagin Only the dead have seen the end of war. - Plato

And too bad it most likely wont cut the mustard with we fans of the epic series. They would be damned lucky to find someone good enough to make the last few novels worth reading. _________________ Colonel Ralgith t'Mayasara Blighted Sun Battalion 1st Company 'Ralgith's Renegades'

Amen! They had better get every note everywhere. The series is a very convoluted set of subPlots.
I've read them all, and was waiting.... Guess I still be waiting... _________________ Sir Henry

Agreed. What, 4-10 main plot threads (depending on where in the story) and at least a hundred sub plots? This series is VERY "involved". Lotsa stuff going on, and would take a lot of work to tie it all off with a good ending. Myself, I had expected at least another 4 books, but meh. _________________ Colonel Ralgith t'Mayasara Blighted Sun Battalion 1st Company 'Ralgith's Renegades'

well.........Crap! It will definitely require an author that is a big fan of the books, and the same style of writing with the ability to take PAINS to keep it from centrifuging apart.
I think it is time to bag my current wheel of times, talk about a collectors opportunity. _________________ Duct tape is like the force. It has a light side & a dark side, and strings also lie under it all.
