|
|
This just popped out of my mind:
Code: |
AeroTech 2 Vessel Technical Readout
VALIDATED
Class/Model/Name: Tempest TPT-1
Tech: Inner Sphere / 2750
Vessel Type: Aerospace Fighter
Rules: Level 1, Standard design
Rules Set: AeroTech2
Mass: 65 tons
Frame: Wakazashi IV
Power Plant: Rawlings 260 Fusion
Safe Thrust: 6
Maximum Thrust: 9
Armor Type: SRT Standard
Armament:
1 Mydron Obliterator Autocannon/20
2 Diverse Optics Type 30 Large Laser
Manufacturer: Mitchell Vehicles
Location: Terra
Communications System: Telecron L50
Targeting & Tracking System: Sirtik BL1500
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
==Overview:==
In 2577, while engaged in the Reunification War, the SLDF called for a medium
to heavy aerospace interceptor.
Mitchell Vehicles, later producer of the famous Hellcat, answered with its
Tempest design.
The prototype was ready in late 2578 and after its trials the craft entered
serial production.
But as the war seemed to last much longer than expected the SLDF reduced their
order to a mere 200 fighters. For their war effort they needed fighters with a
greater fuel endurance.
==Capabilities:==
The Tempest weights in at 65 tons and carries an exceptable amount of armor. A
massive autocannon delivers its knockout punch and two large lasers can reach
out at targets being out of the cannons range. The heat dissipation system is
strong enough to fire two weapons simultaneously but is overtaxed easily if
all three weapons were used.
As interceptors are not ment to fly great distances the fuel load is somewhat
small. If in need commanders can put external fuel pods on but the flight
characteristics suffer considerably.
==Variants:==
After 2650 almost all Tempests were upgraded to TPT-2 's with large ER lasers
and double heat sinks.
==Deployment==
Most Tempests were stationed on Terra or other nearby key systems. Only a
handfull survived the Amaris War and later vanished in the first Succession
War.

I have come up with several different takes on this:
Twin PPCs and an AC20
Twin Gauss and a LL
It's not a bad fighter, just been done before...would really need to run it in a game to see how well it can do etc... _________________ Karagin Only the dead have seen the end of war. - Plato

As my fighter is a level 1 design that was later updated with some (limited) StarLeague tech it would be difficult to fit your weapon proposals in.
What do you mean with "just been done before"?
We have put the Tempest against some other Star League fighters in a small series of test battles and it fared quite well. Not the best around but not bad either. _________________ Reality is where the Pizza-man comes from!'Gucken, petzen, verpissen!' Many of us have made similar fighters...the weapons I suggested where ones I have used that are similar to your weapons profile and intent. Heavy punches to bring down mechs and other targets in quick hits that hurt, not pin pricks that take time and expose the ship to more chances to be shot down. _________________ Karagin Only the dead have seen the end of war. - Plato
