Okay I got the chance on Saturday to play an old game, called:
Conquest of the Empire.
It was part of the Axis and Allies set of board games that Milton Bradley put out back in the day. You had A&A, Shogun (know called Samurai Swords), Fortress America and Conquest of the Empire.
I have all of them, plus some of the newer updated/revamped versions.
Know I was wondering how many of you cut your teeth on these games and do you still play them? Also what was the weirdest set of events to happen in any of these games? _________________ Karagin Only the dead have seen the end of war. - Plato

We had Axis and Allies... It's funny how easy for the Axis to win, with a little forethought... _________________ Sir Henry

I currently have Axis & Allies (love it to death) and Samurai Swords (Shogun).
A&A is one of the first wargames I played. I actually cut my tactical teeth on Panzer Blitz by Avalon Hill. My freshman year of college I started playing Battletech and that same year splurged on A&A. Many a Saturday was spent over the BT and A&A board with a pizza in hand. I really like the concept of Shogun but rarely get to play.

You at least have a group. I have not played anything other than chess for over a year. Life has been getting in the way.

I have a 6 year old and a new baby on the way so my chances of getting much playing time is slim. I may have to try play by e-mail and just dedicate a small corner of my basement to the map and hope the cats do not play with the pieces.

I've played all the orginal MB games. Probably the best of the bunch was Shogun.
Conquest of the Empire ( or as known in our circle "Quest for Catapults") was pretty fun as well.
One of my friend used to be an Axis and Allies expert until he got beat by an 8 year old at a con. He has not been the same since
