This is an idea that I had for a type of scenario.
The party is on foot and must sneak across a territory that is being patrolled. If they get across the map without incident, then they complete the objective. The GM must try to have the patrol (who suspect that the player is out there) drive towards the party's side of the map from the opposite side of the map, the side where the party's objective is.
Out of fairness to the party, the party would not have to place tokens down on said map. Instead, each turn that they move, they must keep a written record of what hex they are in. If the patrol moves through that hex, moves into that hex, moves next to that hex, or moves within range of a sensor probe, then the player in that hex is spotted; they must therefore keep their playing piece on the map until either the patrol unit is neutralized or the player is captured / killed.
IE: Ace, Barry, and Chuck are on a night patrol when they spot a small enemy encampment consisting of a communications van, some tents, two cargo trucks, and a generator. Ace orders Barry and Chuck to fall back and call the base, while he sneaks forward to try and plant some explosives. Ace must dodge some soldiers who are on patrol; the soldiers know that they are behind enemy lines, and so are aggressive in their patrolling. Barry and Chuck must make it a safe enough distance away so that they can call without their call being registered. _________________ "I wish I could write as mysterious as a cat." -Edgar Allen Poe"I knew there was something special about you, but I never realized you were really a cat." I like the scenario, but not for CBT. I see CBT as big honkin robots kicking the snot out of each other. Then again I never really got into the role playing part of the game.
