Read it again Chihawk, note the part where I said it has enough heat sinks to fire till the sun goes nova, and a munchy mech is a munchy mech if its' built to exploit a loop hole or abuse things and while it's great to have the perfect mech, I will take one that has flaws over any of the munchy uber mechs any day. I play for fun, not to win at all cost. So read again what I said and then apply it to the overall topic. Thanks. |

If you say so Chihawk. It's clear that no matter what I say about my opinion of pure energy based mechs that have no weakness and have enough heat sinks to fire till the sun goes nova, you won't listen or even consider it a valid point. So you win. You are right and nothing else matters.

Why are we limiting this to only energy type mechs? The original post in this thread which lead to my initial statement (which happened to be your post) read "So you like playing with munchkin mechs that build up no heat?"
It did not reference energy type weapons and was a broad statement against ALL mechs that generate no heat.

All I'm saying is that it would be nice if there wasn't such an easy way to unbalance the game.
Do I play with all-energy weapons all the time. No. That would be boring.
I'd like to point out that the original point of this thread wasn't that AC/2's and AC/5's make the game more interesting, or that they're more challenging to use. The point was that they are competitive with energy weapons, in what I took to be a statistics based sense.
I'd also like to point out that I did suggest a way to make the light autocannons more effective, namely, the AC/4 and AC/7 idea.

I've never found any use for the AC/2. I'm sure it's out there. It's just the damage is so minimal and on most terrain, you'll never need the range you get. Now, the AC/5 I have no issue with. While still not a thumper, it at least becomes usable as it currently is.
