==Overview:==
The P3 model represents yet another attempt to salvage the largely ineffective
Hollander. With none of the previous versions catching on, the decision was
made to radically re-think the mech.
For all prior models, it was noted that they each shared a common weakness:
ammo consumption. Once the main weapon ran dry, the mech was effectively
helpless. As a result, the decision was made to re-design the mech around an
ER PPC as the main weapon instead of a Guass Rifle or autocannon. To help vent
the heat generated, the decision was made to install double heat sinks.
With the tonnage freed up by going to an ER PPC, the decision was made to
supplement the mech's short-range firepower. In addition to the G1's twin
medium lasers, a third medium laser was added along with an SRM 6; as these
new weapons are in the torso, the mech can continue to defend itself from
close-quarters attackers even if it loses both arms. A ton and a half of armor
was also added to improve protection.
To help the mech keep pace with its quarry, the decision was made to install
an XL engine so that the mech could move at a higher rate of speed.
All of these modifications necessitated a redesign of the mech's internals and
frame, resulting in the P3 being readily distinguishable from its
predecessors.
Only time will tell if these changes prove to be worth-while.
