==Overview:==
This frightening new creation has recently taken to the battlefield, and it's
painfully obvious that it has only one mission: annhialation.
The Rolling Thunder appears to have been designed as a mobile fortress
vehicle. It has armor comparable to that of a shuttle craft or even a small
dropship, allowing it to take an astonishing amount of damage yet still keep
going. Its firepower is fairly light for its size, but its C3 command system
and the ability to carry its own escort complement help make up for this.

Note that the original had a lot more missiles, plus more weapons... including a pair of ICBMs. _________________ "I wish I could write as mysterious as a cat." -Edgar Allen Poe"I knew there was something special about you, but I never realized you were really a cat." *looks at the stats... giggles, takes a LB 10-X and starts to snipe*
An Arrow IV or a Thunderbolt launcher to represent the huge missiles could do a lot to increase this vehicle's combat abilities IMO. _________________ The dragon NEVER sleeps!

That'd involve stripping out the RAC and the entire rear turret just to have enough weight available. _________________ "I wish I could write as mysterious as a cat." -Edgar Allen Poe"I knew there was something special about you, but I never realized you were really a cat." You could use the lighter Ferro armor that is found in MaxTech it's now legal for tournement play so that should be okay for level 2 play...if that matters.
I think Light Ferro would be a good way to gain some extra space/weight and maybe going down to a UAC or smaller RAC... _________________ Karagin Only the dead have seen the end of war. - Plato

Or some armor and the cargo, or you can make some changes to the weapons. A large laser, some of the new PPC models or even a LAC as a replacement for the RAC would free some tonnage as well. Depends on your priorities. _________________ The dragon NEVER sleeps!

Using a PPC would mean having to ditch the lasers, and the internal escort vehicle is part of the original's design. _________________ "I wish I could write as mysterious as a cat." -Edgar Allen Poe"I knew there was something special about you, but I never realized you were really a cat." unless you take it as a part of a motorized infantry unit (or how are those called now). _________________ The dragon NEVER sleeps!

You can make a lot of effective infantry fighting vehicles very light weight. I had a whole bunch I posted up a long time ago. Your weapons are extremely limited unless you are willing to get creative and use heavy infantry/battle armor weapons.
But good combos are:
Foot Infantry with wheeled vehicle support for city fighting
Motorized Infantry with hover, track, or VTOL depending on terrain
- Hover is good for desert and plains
- VTOL is good for oceans and forests
- Tracked is good for built up rough terrain, swamps, etc
However, I love VTOL support infantry. Good speed, beyond belief maneuverability, and you can go with dropping them in via parachute or actually landing them depending on what you want to do.
Paratroopers are the best though. Well deployed infantry can do a lot to help you control the battlefield cheaply. they block movement or at least make an enemy force pay a price to move around. They can also be very effective against vehicles, SRM or LRM infantry are the best at this. I've seen a single squad take out a 100 ton tank in one round thanks to a lucky crit.
Its all about the cost though. I'm ranting at this point so I'll just post and fly off!
