------------------------------------------------------------------------------
==Overview:==
As Avon Motors, a well known producer of civilian and paramilitary vehicles,
decided to design their first combat vehicle for the DCMS, they couldn't have
chosen a worse time.
A mere two weeks after the first production run provided the Kuritan armor
regiments with their first PPC carrying main battle tank, TechniCorp
introduced their Manticore! With it's fusion engine this competitor carried a
similar main weapon and a more diverse secondary weaponry in a package 15 tons
lighter and 11 kph faster (on roads even 21 kph faster)!
As orders were withdrawn Avon Motors nearly went bancrupt and was only able to
stay in business because of their profitable main branches.
It was not until the middle of the Third Succession War, were fusion engines
were dedicated to Mechs, that Avon Motors was contacted by the DCMS to
revitalise their production of the Conqueror.
==Capabilities:==
Without much knowledge about military grade fusion engines and the intention
to save costs the designers of the Conqueror chose an upgraded ICE built by
their own Company.
The speed of about 54 kph in flat terrain and 64 kph on roads were deemed
enough for a 75 ton tank. The Lord's Light PPC, formally known to be carried
only by Mechs like the Panther, was a formidable main gun and the three Telos
SRM-6 racks proved to be deadly against enemy vehicles and damaged Mechs. A
single locally build Siral 127 machine gun provided anti infantry fire in it's
front arc.
11,5 tons of StarSlab armor wrapped everything in a hard shell.
A 300 kg cargo compartment normally carried additional equipment for the crew
like tents, food etc. but even could carry up to three infantrists for
scouting and close support.
==Variants:==
Towards the end of the Third Succession War a variant appeared, that replaced
the PPC and its heavy heat dissipation system with a pair of medium
autocannons. The SRM system was rearranged to four Telos-4 racks and a turret
mounted MG was added.
==Deployment==
Only few tanks were delivered to the DCMS and most of them were relegated to
militias.
But as the third Succession War blowed new life into the production of the
Conqueror they appeared even in elite frontline regiments.

It looks pretty tough, but for it's speed it packs only moderate ranged weapons, so I'd use it either in larger groups or as an ambusher.
The Manticore is tracked as well...

Only for fluff reasons, tracked vee wouldn't be faster on a road.

TW says: "Ground Vehicles moving on pavement may receive a movement bonus of 1 MP, ..."
So tracked vehicles get the bonus too!
But unfortunately it also says: "...regardless of whether the vehicle uses cruising or flanking movement."
So in the end you're right, that the Manticore is only 11 kph faster than the Conqueror even on roads!
