Does anyone know how best to get ahold of Fan-made TROs?
I have one from Lords of the Battlefield, another one from Battletech Universe (but not affiliated with them) called TRO:3062. Are there any others out there worth collecting?

I'm going to assemble a TRO over the summer called:
TRO: 3020
Forces of the Periphery
It will focus on infantry, conventional fighters, tanks, etc. I want to talk about the state of the Periphery in 3025. So there will be an overview of the states (one paragraph each!) and their general philosophy.
Section 1: Vehicles
This section will have a bit about wheeled, tracked, and hovercraft vehicles. All sorted nice and pretty, all home made by me! I think I have set aside about twenty entries for here and have already started working on them.
Section 2: Naval Power
This section has hydrofoils, submersables, and displacement hulls. Despite what some might think, the Navy of the Periphery is a proud and respected organization! Even with their little white caps...
Section 3: Air Power
This is for conventional fighters, VTOLs, and aerospace fighters, though very rare on the last one. You've already seen two of them, such as the Victory.
Section 4: Infantry
This section is going to focus on infantry formations for the major powers, examples of their special forces, and also a new unit I'm working on balancing and finishing:
Infantry Fighting Vehicles (IFVs)... ultra light vehicles from 2 to 10 tons that mount support weapons. Basically a vehicle version of Battle Armor.
I just need to get the tech manual book thingy.

Okay.
That's a start, I guess.
I have seen a LOT of fan-produced TROs. Nearly all of them have been very poorly written, or poorly edited, or use stock art, or use home-made sketches which are not very good.
I have been called upon exactly three times to assist with these efforts.
The first time, the author realized how much work he was going to have to do in rewriting his TRO and bailed out. As he explained to me, "I'm finished with this project and want to move on." That the TRO he'd done was essentially unreadable, did not seem to concern him in the least.
The second time, the communal effort to get a TRO done had already ground on for nearly two years and I was, effectively, observing last rites on a very pretty corpse. Too many cooks, too many bruised egos.
The third effort involved the author, who was the designer and artist, myself as main writer, and a few other individuals who contributed one or two well-written pieces. It tuned out well, or at least we think so, and on time.
I have seen other efforts out there, some by groups whose name is lost to history. And I have heard there are people who collect these things, no matter how badly done they are. I am working with my previous partner on another TRO and would like to know what previous attempts look like.

I know of a Dark Phoenix Project TRO that Rommel Twee is working on over at HMPro.
Lords of the Dropship had one I believe at one time or another...
Beyond that I am not sure of any floating around anywhere else. _________________ Karagin Only the dead have seen the end of war. - Plato

I have already written a short story and submitted a design for Rommel Twee's effort. He is making good progress.
I have the LOTB TRO. It is pretty good, but I am not sure how many machines they put forth I would actually consider using.
Thanks for the heads up, though.

I maintain a website called TRO:Legends. In essence a very simplistic minimal web TRO of unofficial, fluff, video game, and etc etc designs. I did not start it, I just maintain it
It and its partner site CBT List will be getting a bit of an update soon thanks to jymset, so thanks mate _________________ Colonel Ralgith t'Mayasara Blighted Sun Battalion 1st Company 'Ralgith's Renegades'

Hey - it was that very site that turned me into what I am (see my shiny new avatar!). So thank YOU for maintaining it!
I have also just started a tiny and ugly site that will have more on some of that soonish (after I finish my Master thesis, for one). In case anyone checks it out - so far it's just a little table in which I summarise the Clan omnis; and a links page that is somewhat different! This site and your site, ralgith, are at the top! Please don't submit that page to Mordel's link list yet, though. I may not go anywhere with it - or it may turn out rather nice. Either way, I wouldn't want anyone rate it in its current incarnation.

Ok, why is my last post relevant to this thread?
Well, my intention with my website is to create an online TRO of sorts.
Definitely TRO:StarDate, probably TRO:BattleTechnology and maybe TRO:other magazines. Which would work very well with ralgith's page. But, this is the music of the future. _________________ "Rear armour is defeatist!" - unknown Kuritan Mechwarrior

At which stage you will find that you are limited to 4.999 tons on vehicles carrying infantry-sized support weapons. Once again, Raven! - that sounded excellent. Did you get anywhere with it? _________________ "Rear armour is defeatist!" - unknown Kuritan Mechwarrior

Or we could simply incorporate those into CBTList.... which I've thought of doing more than once. _________________ Colonel Ralgith t'Mayasara Blighted Sun Battalion 1st Company 'Ralgith's Renegades'

That is actually an excellent idea and a great addition for TRO:Legends, right?
I'll get back to you on that one. _________________ "Rear armour is defeatist!" - unknown Kuritan Mechwarrior

I was thinking of also making MechForce TRO sites to complement the text/excel files. This would be an excellent addition to creating separate files for MF:NA, MF:UK, and MF:DE... _________________ Colonel Ralgith t'Mayasara Blighted Sun Battalion 1st Company 'Ralgith's Renegades'
