This is something that came to me.

In real life, you've often got vehicle crews tinkering with their vehicles in order to do things like add extra firepower.

Based on this, I had the idea that a player could, if they meet the following requirements, mount personal weapons on to conventional vehicles.

1. The player declares what weapon they want to mount and on which vehicle they want to mount it.

2. They explain how it is that they intend to mount it and how they intend to operate it.

3. They explain how it is that they came by the weapon in the first place.

4. They make a series of skill checks, such as Technician Mechanical, Gunsmith, and anything else related.

5. They agree that I can impose additional penalties.

Example - A character notes that the OPFOR has tanks and battle armor so decides to mount LAW rockets on the party's APCs and cargo vehicles. The rockets and launchers were "liberated" during a battle (no, this hasn't happened in the game). The launchers will be mounted externally, with wiring run into the crew compartment.

Mounting each launcher adds 1 point of armor to each facing. However, if the facing is hit before the rocket can be fired the character must make a piloting save; failure means that the rocket detonates in the launcher, destroying the launcher and dealing an additional point of damage. There is also a variable chance of the wiring not working right, the chance dictated by the margin of success or failure in regards to the relevant save. Additionally, the launchers must be manually reloaded. Thus, the player must decide if the ability to kill most IS battle armor suits in one shot from a relatively safe distance outweighs the risk.
