Hello? Does anybody recognize me? Is this board still active? Answer the second question first.
I haven't been to this place in 3 years.  I wonder if somebody will remember me. Is there any of the old regulars start posting here?
Now I find out that Battletech is owned by Catalyst... but the Unseen remain Unseen, the more things change, the more they remain the same.
Been busy drafting new rules for games previous to Succesion Wars.
Ah yeah, a beer please. In the years in between in my travels through the East I have taken a liking to the stuff. Dark , porter beer if you have.

I'm still here, and so are a few others.
Thing is, I really haven't done much with BTech in a few years; a member of the campaign I was running got murdered back in '08, and none of the rest of the group members had the heart to keep playing the campaign.

I am glad to see you people. Funny that I have known some of you longer than I have known my wife.
I saw a post by Rarich from this year. I miss that guy. His input and calculations on power comsuptions for Mechs drawn from Traveller rules were great.
I also would like if the archives still have Old Dog rules. I could use some of those, namely the cockpit rules.
I am undecided wether to post here or in the Classic Battletech current reincarnation of the forum. That forum has more visitors, but I think is not very friendly to 3025 grognards like me.

The hell with it. I haven't lasted even 24 hours in the CBT board before receiving a warning from the moderator. It seems my ill temper and loose tongue still get me in trouble. 
Not that I wrote anything particularly inflammatory , but I am shocked at the level of censorship. I am just an old Battletech grognard and I was venting my frustration. I did not realize that would hurt the feelings of other gamers that like things as they are, or more importantly, that you cannot say in the official board of a games company that their product basically sucks, even if you feel is true.

I used to post on CBT back in the day; I was poster #124, making me one of the last posters before they went "official".
Back when it was just another BTech board, it was fine and dandy.
But when it went official, we started drowning under the deluge of newbies and trolls that began to filter in. Entire topics and later categories of topics had to be declared "off-limits" in an effort to try and keep the peace.
What finally happened was that a crash happened that took the board offline for a few months. When it came back online, they redid the rules to be so hyper-strict that you risked a warning just for sneezing wrong. After that, I just decided to head elsewhere.
I also used to visit Longwalker's board for a while, but my ISP didn't want to work with it and so I had to eventually bow out because of all the glitches I kept facing.

Well, I got banned for a week from the forums. Truth be told, I was asking for it, but here are the warnings I got
1) First warning: because I dared to say some things and products in Battletech suck
2) Warning. For telling Cray humorously "do not play Jedi mind tricks on me" because he was being obtuse and unhelpful to a plain question I made, can you believe it?
3) As much as I tried not to call Cray a fool and saying explicitly his work on Battletech sucks, something must have gotten through, I said more or less "your argument is shallow" because he was trolling my thread with off topic comments.
I am just astounded at the level of censorship and flanderism in it, you cannot make even the mildest critic without it being seen as a personal attack
They can go to hell, waste of time anyway

Hey Vamp, good to see you. As it has been said, post away, even vent if you must, oh you already have, ehehe.
I have not done much with BTech in years either, plus having a Baby_Dragon around (2 years now), I have the itch to play but few opponents, anyone up for some MegaMek?

You'll all be happy to know (or will you?) that I renewed the domain for yet another year. I use to do 3 year renewals back in the day, but the way things are going, I've been sticking to just one.

Funny, I never post here these days, but I drop by at least once a week.
Mordel's is my internet origin, my entry point not only to BT as a community entity, but to the medium "internet" altogether. Sometimes I still type in the URL without consciously knowing I do so.
That said, I'm rather active on the official forums; but it's very much "on topic". Part of Mordel's was the family feel that I got here. Some of that family was lost in the offline time and restart in 02. And most others have moved on in some other ways.
But hey, I'm in touch with Vampire (even as sporadic as that is) and I got into BT way more than I'd otherwise ever have. All due to Mordel's.
