This is for the fic I'm doing with the character I play here.
Thing is, as far as mechs go, the unit's just a wee bit short-handed; it's not realistic for the characters I presently have to get away with some of what I've planned for them.
Here's the present roster:
Command Lance:
*Me - custom Shadow Hawk. As a commando, my character is a ghost and so needed an appropriate mech.
*Hazard - custom Stealth. Ditto.
*Wizard - ELINT-mod Atlas. He's a computer expert, and so his mech is our field headquarters
*Kanz - Marauder IIC. Clan pilot and cultured warrior. He's the brute muscle of the team when not guarding the Atlas.
Fire Lance:
*Eisensturm - Thunderbolt. Is the team's tech genius, and so makes most of our toys.
*Templar - Vulcan
*Paladin - Hunchback. He and his twin in the Vulcan are our close-combat specialists. Both are extreme athletes.
??
Recon Lance:
*Starlight - custom Raven. Mediocre fighter, but able to process data like a super-computer. She's our scout.
*Tommy - custom Wasp. Is comparable to The Flash in temperament and rate of speed.
*Maria - Spector. Hazard's little sister. Harmless if pointed in the right direction.
*L'Etranger - heavily modified Battle Hawk. Pretends to be a ladies' man so that no one notices his ability to read body language.
As you can imagine, we're a commando-type unit that is tasked with black ops and even wetworks assignments. We've got a mix of brute muscle and finesse, allowing us to modify our formations as appropriate.
Given both the mechs I've already got and the personalities of my pilots, any ideas as to what kind of character and mech I should try to put together to round out the fire lance?
Thanks. _________________ "I wish I could write as mysterious as a cat." -Edgar Allen Poe"I knew there was something special about you, but I never realized you were really a cat." Wolfwood to a random cat (Trigun)

It's been a while since I last posted here, but for your lance I'd suggest a Firestarter. Either a modified 3025 version, or the larger omni (although the XL engine may be too vulnerable for your tastes). Really, it's a great "special" mech: fast, good jump, reasonable armor, and plenty of flamers.
Flamers aren't just great for anti-infantry work, your pilot can use it to clear woods, create smokescreens, overheat enemy mechs, or just plain burn stuff down. Pretty useful for a commando-type unit, and lots of non-combat uses that could be used in a story. Some versions of the Firestarter have decent regular weaponry, too.
Any character piloting a mech like this should be a little "off"- maybe being just a bit too enthusiastic about lighting things on fire.

Sadly, that's off the table.
A party I was in once had a guy who played a slightly off-kilter Firestarter pilot.
Said player was ultimately shot during a home invasion gone wrong.
Since then, his character's been all but permanently retired. _________________ "I wish I could write as mysterious as a cat." -Edgar Allen Poe"I knew there was something special about you, but I never realized you were really a cat." Wolfwood to a random cat (Trigun)

Used MW3 rules to draw up a character; it's one part canon, one part home-brew, and one part total randomness.
The guy hails from the St. Ives Compact. His parents were low-level but very comfortable government officials (re: bureaucrats) during the days of the Cappellan Confederation, but the transition to independence resulted in his family dropping down a rung on the social ladder, something his family never forgot but which he didn't understand because (as the youngest) he hadn't been born yet.
Although he wanted to go into the ministry, he was instead pressured into joining the military as it was one of the few ways his family knew that a person could be "successful". He was a stand-out in training, breezing through mechwarrior training before ultimately being tapped to be a military scientist.
Unfortunately, he didn't have a chance to actually get his first proper posting before the Confederation decided to retake the Compact. Instead, he spent two years leading the few St. Ives soldiers and partisans he could find in commando actions against the Cappellan forces. Thing is, this earned him the wrath of his family, who were restored to their former position and so no longer wanted anything to do with him. When he and the other partisans in his group realized that they couldn't win without popular support, he gave everyone a final farewell in the form of an arrow to the forehead of a senior Cappellan officer before he and his group were spirited off-planet along with what remained of the St. Ives intelligence forces that were present. At that point, they all wound up making their way to Solaris, where I took him on as a jock (due to the incidents of the most recent chapter, I now have a spare Banshee).
Anyone have any ideas as to what I can do for a name & call sign?

my friends name is Jixin, any meaning i dunno
Tiang is the 48th most common chinese surname in Gan, in Mandarin it is Ding.
Taizu was the temple name of Hongwu, rebel against the Yuan Dynasty, who forced the Mongols to retreat to Mongolia, and established the Ming Dynasty.

If you are still looking for a mech for that fire lance I would go Griffin or Osprey, mediums that can provide some long range support
