==Overview:==
On the surface, the Simmons R137 (distinctly shaped like a compound bow, but
with a token tail) is little more than a modern-day relic; after all, how can
a twin-prop fighter ever hope to compete against a proper aerospace fighter?
But contrary to what the naysayers have to offer, the Simmons R137 was never
intended to do that. Rather, the plane was meant as a cheap light aircraft for
rural outposts to use as a patrol vehicle. Its armor and payload may be light,
but they're more than enough to deal with the average assortment of bandit
VTOLs and conventional vehicles. As such, the Simmons R137 remains reasonably
popular among military commanders despite its obvious shortcomings.

Nice to see a design that has more to do with gaming background then straight out battle. nicely done.
I once designed a wheeled vehicle that was nothing more then a transporter to haul items to and from LZs. I think it was called the Raymond, I remember posting it here. wonder if it's still around _________________

A variant might drop the SRM for Rockets for the quick strike ability.
Also, I have used similar vehicles and they are nasty when equipped with bombs or RL/10 Pods.
Also, if you allow the optional rule: rapid fire machine guns, it really help improve the viability of conventional fighters in this weight range (and kinda period). _________________ one must work hard to cultivate the mind and body. and one must always cultivate the mind.

oh, an heads up....
use of the TacOps Advanced AA and Advanced Control roles has a complicating effect with fighters this light with MGs.
Under normal rules, an MG still forces a PSR during the end phase if it hits an aero. However, if you use Advanced AA it is suggested that you also use Advanced Control which changes control rolls from every time you are damaged to every time you suffer damage that exceeds your armor threshold.
Rapidfire MGs still helps this but it reduces the ability of these types of craft from fighting in air-to-air engagements. _________________ one must work hard to cultivate the mind and body. and one must always cultivate the mind.
