Well, so that you can enjoy the story without seeing comments in between snippets, I am creating this second thread just for your input, thoughts, and ideas on the story.
You can read Scorpio Ascendant in the fiction section of Model.net.
Anyway, I do hope that ya'll enjoy the story. And never fear, this one is complete and finished. I am just posting it slowly to avoid overloading you fellows.

Having read it when you posted on Ricks site, I loved it. It made sense and gives a better take on things.
The mechs are well done, the plot is good and has depth and the characters have more depth and dimensions then many of the canon ones.
Overall a good read!

I've cleaned it up and corrected some errors in the text as well as fixing some problems that I didn't realize at the time. Glad that you enjoyed it, though.

Oops. Sorry about that it is now fixed. Both the Desert Tiger and Goliath Scorpion now have the code blocks for their stats.
The fluff text is for a another AU that I am working on, but the 'Mechs, ASF, and DropShips will be appearing in Scorpio Ascendant as well. So ignore the fluff for the purpose of the current book.

Just some basic information: the story itself is 266 pages in MS Office (Verdana 9 font) with nearly 160,000 words. As of the last post (the election of the ilKhan), we are up to the end of page 59. So, we're less than a quarter of the way in! Buckle your seatbelts and put your dining trays in the upright, locked position sportsfans; we're in for a ride!

Author's Insight: Scorpio Ascendant
This fic began as a piece to explore how the Invasion might have differed from reality had another Clan, a very DIFFERENT Clan, been part of the invasion force. But as I examined that idea, and tossed around my thoughts with other readers, I came to realize that my ambitions were a little constricted.
So, I went back to the drawing boards and reread Warden Clans and Crusader Clans, and thought how to redo Revival in such a way that could account for one of the smaller Clans to transform into a genuine powerhouse . . . respected and (to a degree) feared by their fellow Clan Warriors.
Having always liked the concept of the Scorpions, I selected them.
The first part of the story necessarily focused on the Scorpions and the Homeworlds . . . because you, faithful readers, had to KNOW how the Scorpions had transformed themselves. And in doing so, how they managed to change the invasion.
I hope I managed to do that in a manner that doesn't trigger your sense of disbelief; too many stories (both canon and fan-fic) make Clan Warriors one-dimensional. Caricatures of mustache-twirling villians that are not believed as REAL, BREATHING, LIVING people.
I hope that I have managed to make the characters come to life and FEEL like they are real. Sure, the Clans have a VERY different culture and mindset . . . but deep down inside, they are still human. Still us. With nobility and treachery; honor and deceit; good and evil.
Having brought the Clans to the brink of the Invasion, I needed to then witch Point-of-View to the Inner Sphere to see HOW that they can possibly stop this juggernaut.
You see, I never intended for this story to be a 'curb-stomp'. And, indeed, I was stressing over HOW (short of a deus ex machina) to get the IS up to speed. And then I remembered the Dragoons and Kerlin Ward.
Bingo. What if Kerlin sends Jaime that final message? What happens if Jaime decides to 'get skin in the game' and ACTUALLY PREPARE for the coming tsunami?
All of the Prologue, Chapter One, and Chapter Two are events leading up to the launch of Revival. I won't reveal ahead of time what is to come, but I do hope that you enjoy the ride.
