Many years ago I had a web BattleTech portion of my website where folks were able to play games in a casual, no stress way with folks from around the globe. It used a map with numbers to represent units, and each turn gave a few days to get your orders in. If you don't recall, you can see some of it here (minus the images, unfortunately). Some of the links work, including the one for 'Oh My!', which was the currently running game, as well as the rules at the time.
I bring this up, because I'm going to start it again. I grabbed the rules and will be reworking them over the coming days/weeks. But in order to run this on the site, there's going to need to be enough interest. Heck, I may only need a small handful of people (4?) to get a first game off and work out the kinks.
If you are interested, can you reply to this thread and let me know? If you know someone who is interested, get 'em in here to say hello. Once I have the rules worked out, we can kick off a game and have a blast!!

I'll see if some of my crowd or some of the old guard are interested.

Rules seem great! Super happy you kept your original skill modification system instead of going with BV or something. It makes choosing your ride (or creating a custom one) part of the whole game. I love that.
Only thing maybe worth clarifying - any canon units, including TRO Prototypes, 3145/3150 and XTROs? Because for at least the former two, it would be worth noting that the Jihad/Dark Age Tech Advancement tables should *not* be in use, so tech level per rule books (and differing from said TRO entries). Right?
Man, Mordel, I'm so psyched you're going through with this. Thank you *so much*!

An addendum to the above: per TO, mixed tech would then be considered Experimental, right? This is a big knock in and of itself. I'd also suggest considering mixed tech on par with Clan tech.

If the GM sets the parameters of the game in such a way that units in these books are viable options, then yes, even those.

Can you elaborate on this? Why should the technology advancement tables not be considered? My site is designed in such a way to account for those. All equipment has the advancement tables factored in. So if you look at any unit and click on the Availability tab, you'll see what rules level the unit has at any point in the BT timeline, including if it was even available for use in its current configuration.
There are also different Rule Levels listed for each unit; level during the Year it was introduced, level during the Era it was introduced, and level as it stands based on Current rules for the equipment. So if equipment on a unit went from Exp to Adv in the same era it was introduced but years after it was introduce, and then went to TL during a later era, the rules level for that unit would be: Year - Experimental; Era - Advanced; Current - Tournament Legal.
I actually have a task to add another that does essentially remove the advancement tables, so it would be rules level determined on what level the equipment was when introduced (regardless of year, era, etc).

What've you got to lose, right?
That makes the 4 I wanted. I can take a few more, but probably don't want more than 8 for this first game.

OK, that makes 5! More than enough to get things rolling. I'll work on getting a category the forums setup for this, rules posted etc. This game will be kept simple, probably Clan Invasion era, TL canon designs only. Stuff like that. Work through some of the kinks without worrying about crazy stuff!
