I'm the GM of this year's TotalCon Battletech Championships. It's a 16 person tourney with the players ranked 1 to 16, round one being 1 vs 16, 2 vs 15, etc. Round two is the reaming eight dueling, and so on.
I've selected the five mechs the players will get in a packet before the tourney (they all get the same mechs), and they'll have to select one mech to play each round. All five have very close BVs after modifying them by the P/G scores.
So from you guys I'm looking to see what five mechs you would have selected. I don't want to give any hints on what I chose because I want the choices to be all yours.
So, have at it...

Well, they have to be easy-to-kill designs as we don't want these rounds last hours each!

As it turned out I didn't use this method and just picked two 'mechs to duel each round...turns out I needed 6 mechs to choose from and not five, and I didn't want to have to print out 96 mech sheets.

In the first match of the best of three final Mordel played great and won...in the second match he played like he never played the game before and lost.
In the third game it was Mordel kicking his opponent in the head to win...although I have no idea how it was possible for Mordel to even be in that position. I didn't think it was possible to see worse play from a championship level player than Mordel's second battle, and yet, there it was in battle three from Hans.

In my defense, my dice went on a hiatus after the first match. But you'd be correct in that I had no right to win that 3rd match. Hans did the only thing that would have given me that chance, and that was to move where I had an opportunity for a head kick. It did require some luck with me winning three straight initiatives to be able to get to that position. But, it never should've happened.
