Is there a way to look up units based on how many pieces of equipment are on them.

For example I want all units with 12 or more medium lasers equipped.

Or I want all units with 2 retractable bla ...

You might be better off going top down using alpha strike formations. And then filter the MUL based on that.

For example your command lance,

"In this formation, 50 percent of the units must have ...

Fighters are easier then protomechs to deal with. It should be easy, if possibly time consuming on the equipment database side.

I like it. Course I also have a voice asking, "but what if faster" like a super charger or something. It'd mess up that CT mounted PPC as you reach for lighter gyros to find mass, but details.

If you mean: designing to win the game rather then conforming to fluff that is so ridiculously non sensible as to be meaningless.

Depends on the purpose.

I tend towards:

3/5: weapons platform.

3/5/5: heavy cavalry
4/6/7: heavy scout
5/8/10: scout/harasser

5/8/5: discount trooper medium
4/6: cost effective heavy

It helps that I was there 3000 years ago. And that I pop in every once in awhile to keep up to date. All the errata came at me in easily digested bits instead of the entire document at once.

I think it's the result of an experimental phase. It also makes for more "interesting" mechs if supported by fluff.

But there is enough room for endo if you wanted to trade out.

I note you've been making variants of lots of mechs with this weapons mix.

This one smarts when it hits you. The feel of the upgrade seems more significant then other upgraded designs.

Seeing the HV-10 is interesting. But boy does that weapon have a problem with ERPPCs existing.
