How much is enough ammo for a projectile weapon in the Board game?
Is it enough for 10 rounds of combat? Or 20 or 100?
Say you have 2 AC20 but only 15 round of ammo for the guns, not a lot but still a good player can make it work, or I would hope so, yet it seems that is not the case, I have been told repeatedly that if you dual weapons you need equal amounts of ammo for the guns to be viable design, so what are your thoughts on this? _________________ Karagin Only the dead have seen the end of war. - Plato

i use the rule of thumb of 15 or more shots per weapon except on a skirmisher units with 10+ as they need to flee around 10 shots fired. _________________ one must work hard to cultivate the mind and body. and one must always cultivate the mind.

10 is bare minimum on short ranged things like AC/20, anything else should have at least 15, 20 if the weapon is the main armament or is expected to be fired all the time (AC/5 usually). _________________ The dragon NEVER sleeps!

Sleeping Dragon's numbers would also be mine.
Everything with range and low heat output should have 20 or more.
Units that carry an excessive amount of ammo either are modified (like the Dervish dropping 50 shots of SRM ammo for something .. anything! .. else) or start the game with less ammo than possible (like a 100 shots MG ammo reduced to 10 shots per gun). _________________ Reality is where the Pizza-man comes from!'Gucken, petzen, verpissen!' Recommended that you have equal ammo per gun, yes, required, no. There are going to be many times when one of the guns is knocked out and the other still firing, or if arm mounted one has a shot and not the other or just for heat reasons or target #s you only fire one in a round.
For a guy who rarely plays campaign 10 rounds is plenty for short range like AC20 and 15 is sufficient for medium-long range weapons. The Enforcer is one that comes to mind as actually having to conserve ammo is a game of mine.
Take the Dragon for example...drop a tom of AC5 ammo for another medium laser or almost anything else for that matter. _________________ The JadeDragon

Having a large ammo of ammo is nice, but you are increasing your risk for an ammo explosion of some sorts. Depending on the tech level CASE should be used, but if you have an XL engine it's rather pointless unless it's a campaign game or you have an an XL engine type that only has two criticals in that side torso. Clan tech may have CASE in the arms location, but IS may only have CASE in the side torso.

That's why you use CASE II in the arms. _________________ Mordel Blacknight - Site Administrator

Actually the old 1N Dragon is fine the way it is now with AP and precision ammo you have exactly 20 shots _________________ The dragon NEVER sleeps!

True statement...however, when the 'Mech was originally designed neither ammo was available so my previous statement still holds true. _________________ The JadeDragon
