I say Space Port. Though it is likely to be somewhat heavily defended, if we take it, we can put the dropships down that and use it as a base of operations (a better base of operations) for quick strikes on the supply depot and the railyard.

We could even use our scout team to scuttle train rails in the surrounding area and scuttle the rail depot without ever directly assaulting it.

Out of Universe: Vagabond, could we attempt such a thing? Send our infantry and tanks to hit the outskirts of the rail depot and destroy the tracks without having to actually destroying the base? Like an abstract combat deal?

Although I'm not an LCO, I'd offer my thoughts, if I may?

Of the two suggested targets, I feel like the Rail Yards are going to be the more lightly defended of the two, but possibly just as juicy of a target as the Supply Depot, even if it's a little more spread out than a Depot.

Given that our entire purpose here is to create chaos and tie up as many units as possible while remaining combat effective as long as possible, I see a lightly defended, medium priority target such as the rail yards as a natural next target.

The idea of using our conventional forces to destroy the transport network around the depot is valid, but I'd argue that we only destroy the ones going away from the marshaling yards and not the ones between the Depot and the Yards.

This would allow us to cut the supply distribution to forward units and forces the defenders to transport via ground vehicle in the future, which is a much easier target for later raids, while also forcing the defender to spread his resources thinner by attempting to escort every supply convoy that goes out from that point on.

Further, this weakens the defenders to a follow-on strike at the Depot itself after the Yards are dealt with and the lines are cut. Baring any drastic, unexpected loses during the strike at the Yards, we should be strong enough to still take the Depot, especially if we get lucky enough to capture a munitions train.

OOC: As an aside, what was done with my idea of rigging the airbase with explosive boobytraps as a going away gift? Was that a viable solution or did it not work out?

Okay, I thought so but wasn't sure and didn't want to plan on something that got lost in the shuffle.

OOC - I will need to take time to re-read the Aries Convention in order to advise you on this plan.

I agree that the railyards would be a good target for a fast strike that will disrupt the defenders from moving most of their units quickly. That will give us more time to work on the other targets.
