Overview:
The Phoenix Hawk LAM was the largest Land-Air 'Mech produced during the Star League. Allied
Aerospace reworked their designs for conversion equipment and the size of the LAM, learning
from their mistake with the Shadow Hawk LAM and the success of the Stinger LAM. The
resulting LAM was the largest LAM ever constructed capable of remaining in AirMech mode.
Capabilities:
The VE-1 "ELINT Seeker" saw service later in the Periphery Boarder Wars as a reconnaissance
and ECM/ECCM unit. The unofficial designation "ELINT" stands for ELectronic Signals
INTelligence, and refers to intelligence gathering by use of electronic sensors. Built by
Shinnakasu Heavy Industry under license from Allied Aerospace, the VE-1 combines the
physical capabilities of the Phoenix Hawk LAM with extensive electronic warfare hardware.
Two CTB-04 conformal propellant tanks (mounted in the legs) and two NR-BP-E3 booster
propellant tanks provide plenty of fuel for long-range operations. The majority of the
unit's electronic warfare equipment including communication equipment, a Beagle Active
Probe, and A Guardian ECM system that are mounted in the torsos and arms. A pair of remote
sensor dispensers were added to the legs as a means of expanding the unit's field of cover.
All of this equipment came at the expense of even more armor protection and only a single
medium laser kept for defense. This variant quickly became a valuable support craft on the
battlefield, assisting both ground and space forces in long-range combat operations.
Deployment:
Only a few dozen of these specialized craft were constructed and were spread through out the
SLDF forces.
