Overview:
    The AWS-12D variant was produced as a simple cost effective way to introduce an upgraded
    Awesome at an affordable price. Conceived of during the Jihad, this variant was forgotten
    and produced on one of the many worlds that found itself independent with the collapse of
    the FWL.

Capabilities:
    A very basic design that won't raise any eyebrows, the AWS-12D variant is just a modern
    update. Weaponry is relatively the same with the original 3 PPCs being swapped out for 2
    extended range models and a sawed off model.
    
    Where the main selling point of this mech comes from is it's ability to both, fire all it's
    weapons while running top speed without concern for heat, and the increase in speed without
    relying on an expensive and fragile XL engine.

Deployment:
    With the Jihad raging across the Inner Sphere, what was to be a new Irian branch has become
    independent in order to provide some distance from the WoB. The new facility was kept secret
    and production is slow on a world that has recently loss HPG access. It is believed only a
    sample lance has been produced thus far and remains as part of the factory's garrison force.
    Continued production has become a low priority in favor of more advanced and specialized
    designs so its future remains uncertain.
