What was really gained at Twycross by the FedCom? Beyond realizing they could fight the Clans if they used larger forces and better tactics, what did the FedCom gain from their fighitng on Twycross? _________________ Karagin Only the dead have seen the end of war. - Plato

Doolittle Raid.
It made the Clan feel vulnerable for the first time. _________________ one must work hard to cultivate the mind and body. and one must always cultivate the mind.

Good point. I can see the parallel there. _________________ Karagin Only the dead have seen the end of war. - Plato

Not only that, but if memory serves the Falcons had to pull front-line soldiers away from the invasion to retake it, thereby helping to blunt their offensive. _________________ "I wish I could write as mysterious as a cat." -Edgar Allen Poe"I knew there was something special about you, but I never realized you were really a cat." It is a tactic often used in war. Hit your enemy in a place that they feel safe.. As someone mentioned the Doolittle raid, or even the bombing mission that the English sent to bomb Berlin which changed the whole focus of the German bombing strategy. Historians pick that raid as one of the major turning points of the battle of Britain. Had the Germans kept bombing air bases and manufacturing plants, England was in a world of hurt. Instead they decided to go after London, which let the airbases and plants catch their breath and recover. _________________ "My Blood is not mine to give, it belongs to my Brothers"

Actually the raid on Berlin was a retaliation to an accidental attack on London, but did have the mentioned effect. As for the subject, the FedCom regained temporary access to the Mech factory and pulled as much equipment and material off. as they could, while they held it, including likely some of their newest equipment converted from the GDL hard drive data. Twycross had a major mech factory and the corporate headquarters of Trellshire Heavy Industries. It produced the Stalker (STK-5S), Battlemaster and Rifleman (RFL-5D), and had been upgraded to produce 3050 tech before the Clans arrived. That was valuable equipment for mech production that went to another factory. They said that was the whole point of the attack in the novel as I recall.
