Overview:
An advanced but lower tech yet effective design, the origin of the 6Z came from the lack of
facilities that could produce the advanced systems of the 6X and 6S, namely the Bloodhound
Active Prove, ECM Suite and even the turrets.
Thus the 6Z focused on firepower and was marketed as a raider rather than a recon unit. A
mistake in the eyes of LCAF high command.
Capabilities:
The 6Z model retains the arms and hands of the 6X and 6S while also retaining the Light
Engine and near max armor allows the design to appear both versatile and tough enough to
survive without throwing money away.
Where this model differs is the slight reduction in speed dropping roughly ten percent of
its speed for a 40% increase in offensive tonnage. This freed tonnage, coupled with a
reworking of its previous armaments, has given this variant a large increase in firepower.
In place of the originals two Streak SRM-2s, three ER Medium Lasers provides a roughly 54%
increase in close range firepower. Despite that large upgrade in both damage and range, the
biggest difference comes from the replacement of the LRM-5, opting instead for curiously two
MRM-10s. Besides the obvious increase in firepower, the weapon combination allowed the
lasers and missiles to complement each other by focusing on a similar range bracket. A feat
only possible due to a deal that allowed for the purchase and delivery of MRMs.
Unfortunately this offensive upgrade came at more then just a small reduction of speed. The
ECM suite was also lost with many Lyran commanders feeling that this robs their units of
their largest strength, citing that firepower isn't necessary on a mech meant to support
their already firepower heavy, assault commands.
Deployment:
Most 6Zs are actually purchased by foreign elements, being mercenaries and to the surprise
of most, the DCMS.
Despite the lack of Jump Jets, the speed profile and firepower allowed the 6Z to function
well with the ever popular Jenner.
