Overview:
"There's no such thing as bad publicity."
Taking that into account, a new firm decided to attempt to play off the image of the
"Steiner Scout Lance". The mech combined the image of the Charger, a once maligned attempt
at the assault-scout role, and utilized much of the same internal hardware as the beloved
Zues to make it popular with the LCAF's top brass. The end result is the "Stout" (Steiner +
Scout) assault scout mech.
Capabilities:
A massive and extravagant 400XL engine is the key to the mechs success, allowing the design
to move at surprising speeds. Mobility is granted by jump jets and its role is further
reinforced by the addition of an electronics package consisting of an Active Probe and ECM
Suite.
A shell of 13.5 tons of ferro fibrous, does its best to protect the valuable internal
systems.
The ever popular combination of twin ER PPCs with enough heat sinks to use them, gives the
design it's staying power. Backed by a single medium pulse laser, these weapons give the
design its endurance. This is further enhanced by the roomy and comfortable cockpit which
remains part of its full-head ejection system.
All of this gives the Stout, the image of being the most expensive (and unnecessary)
generalist mech.
Deployment:
Despite performing well in test and being a joy to pilot due to the attention paid to
personal comfort, the design ended up bankrupting the company whose name could not exist
long enough to even be remembered.
Two nails closed this coffin with the first being that the Stout, simply could not compete
with other assaults in terms of both effectiveness and popularity such as the Zues. The
second nail was due to the cheaper and more effective light designs that were beginning to
proliferate within the LCAF.
