Overview:
    A retrofit kit for existing Catapult CPLT-K2 to bring it more inline with the CPTL-K2K
    standards and based on the K3 prototypes, the CPLT-K2r is a cheap upgrade that allowed the
    older models still in service to keep pace with their older brethren. The switch to double
    heat sinks allows for less to be needed. The side torsos only required minor adjustments to
    fit the increased size of the heat sinks, and the shift of a heat sink in each leg into the
    arms to cool the PPC's directly allowed for a total of sixteen double heat sinks. The medium
    lasers are retained, while the PPC's in each 'arm' are replaced with ER models. The machine
    guns and ammunition are stripped out, replaced instead with small pulse lasers in the old
    machinegun mounts, for logistical purposes. Weight saved from the shift to double heat sinks
    allowed for the reinstallation of jump jets in each side torso.
    
    The downside however, is a machine that runs hotter than the original K2 or almost ice cold
    K3 design. While more mobile than the K2K, it generates a similar amount of heat from its
    weapons while mounting the same armor as the K2 and K3. As such, this retrofit kit was
    limited mostly to units operating on the Outworlds Border. The Arkab Legions are a notable
    exception, with some regiments converting several of their K2's to the K2r to operate as
    direct fire support alongside the newer Warhammer WHM-7K.
