Overview:
I made this variant for Toxic_Toast's Thunderbolt II because it's a great design, and I like
me a flying brick... I also wanted to add one more ton of LRM ammo. Anyway, here's the lore
write up, written with help from Mr. Toast:
With the TDRII deciminating out into the market, customers would begin to test the
flexibility of the the chassis. A popular choice first seen utilized by mercenary companies
was to increase the mobility of the mech. This would be done by removing the three VSPs
freeing up enough tonnage add 4 jump jets to the mech. Additionally, a fourth ton of ammo
would be added for the LRM launcher, while 3 medium x-pulse lasers would be fitted to
replace the uninstalled VSPs. Finally the er-small laser would be replaced with an er-medium
laser, and an additional half ton of armor would be added to the design. While Earthwerks
didn't have the resources to begin producing another member of the TDRII line they would
give it an official designation and begin providing refit kits to customers who desired the
greater mobility enjoyed by the 1SE variant.

Notable MechWarriors:
Alfred Winfrey the Third was one of the first to sport this configuration. A disgraced
nobleman turned mercenary, he specialized in ambush tactic. His most notable accomplishment
was when his mercenary company, the Winfrey Weights, was contracted to kill a minor Lyran
Baron who was leading raids on the FWL. So, they set up a target - a power plant that
powered a large city on a border world - to look vulnerable and paid off some people to tip
the noble off. Then, laying mines in the only entrance into the facility - a canyon - they
waited for the noble to arrive. When he showed up a few rotations later, he stumbled right
into their trap, his raiding lance being severely damaged by the minefield. Jumping into the
canyon, the wights engaged in a battle against the numerically superior Lyran Raiders. The
centerpiece of the Wight's formation was Winfrey's TDRII-1SE. It tanked many rounds of
incoming fire, and squared off with Baron's Zeus. The two 80 ton assault mechs duked it out
in the canyon, with Winfrey coming out in top when he unexpectedly performed a death from
above maneuver, crushing the Baron's cockpit.
