Overview:
The E4, B5, and B6 configurations are an odd group. Designed concurrently their goal was to
fit the broadside (just one, not both) of a dropship into a Company of Drudges. They
collectively pull it off rather well, until the Foot Shock Assault Dropship starts laughing
in Arrow IV from its nose batteries.
As a support unit, just how much of an advantage does the Drudge have over its front line
counterparts in pod space? Just 7.5 tons. That number used to be greater, 14 tons, then
11.5 tons as more advanced technologies were incorporated into the Asymptotes. But now just
7.5 tons. It makes one wonder, what could be achieved with a higher production budgets? Is
the advantage of such a design worth the greater cost. In all honesty, probably not. The
extra firepower is kinda meaningless once combined arms comes into play.
Capabilities:
The B5 Configuration operates on the theory that "Big Guns Never Tire" An Ultra-20
Auto-cannon is supported by a heavy PPC. Between these two systems large and ragged holes
will develop in the enemies armor. And the Streak-6 is waiting to be the knuckle duster to
exploit those holes. The B5 is also the only one of the "Terrible Trio" to have a full
compliment of jump jets, which given its shorter then average weapon ranges makes sense.
Its the configuration most likely to need to reposition itself in a brawl.
