Overview:
A bunch of medium lasers... how... original. But also a good way of getting the job done.
As for the Drudge's E2 (Medium laser) configuration, it's the closest thing to a pure front
line configuration as you're likely to see from a Drudge.
Capabilities:
The first and most important feature of the E2 configuration is... the Jump Jets. While most
drudges have either minimal jump jets for drops, or standard jump jets for improved mobility
in built up areas, the E2 goes all in with improved jump jets. Given any sort of terrain
features this gives the E2 the mobility to close with heavy and assault combat forces.
Barring exceptions which we're seeing more of as our opponents strategies play catch up.
Which is fine. We have Relentlesses and Snuggle Rabits to deal with that. Besides being
able to close range faster then expected the jump capability is just enough to begin giving
an edge in evasiveness. The mass taken up by the jumpjets also begins to explain the rest
of the configurations payload. Medium lasers are well known to be remarkably efficient at
damage output so long as you can get into brawling range. The rather cavernous omni pod
bays allow for a considerable number of them to be mounted. Along with the equally important
heat sinks. With the main guns installed the secondary systems focus on battlefield
support. C3 to act as a scout since it wants to close the range anyways. Angel ECM to keep
the C3 network up despite hostile ECM. TAG to direct fire support. And finally MML-3s,
mostly for Smoke rounds for battlefield control; not that the urge to put multiple tons of
ammo with a MML system could be resisted.
